Congratulations to Patrick Robinson!
We are so pleased to share this news about ANAC Chicago chapter member and former ANAC BOD president, Patrick Robinson , RN, ACRN, CNE, FAAN . Arizona College has  announced his appointment as Provost, VP of Academic Affairs. He will lead all aspects of academics, including curriculum development, content delivery and faculty development and will serve as a key member of the Arizona College leadership team. Be sure to congratulate Patrick at the ANAC gala in Denver!

CDC website provides information and materials
Transgender people face multiple obstacles that may affect their ability to stay healthy and put them at risk for getting or transmitting HIV. The CDC-sponsored Transforming Health: Patient-Centered HIV Prevention and Care website contains information and materials for healthcare providers and transgender individuals.
Policy

ANAC adopts new public policy agenda
The ANAC board of directors unanimously adopted a new  public policy agenda developed by the ANAC policy committee. Data from the 2018 ANAC member survey on policy issues and priorities was used in its development. It centers on access to healthcare, human rights, evidenced-based HIV prevention and care, and the HIV workforce and helps to guide the organization's work in the coming years

Don't forget to vote!
T uesday, November 6 is election day. AIDS United has a terrific election resource center on voting rights for you, your family and community, including information about voter ID and other information and tool kits for voters. ANAC is a member of the AIDS United Public Policy Coalition.

Call for papers
The CDC's National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention's Office of Health Equity is sponsoring a thematic journal supplement, "Policy Approaches to Reduce the Morbidity, Mortality, and Incidence of HIV, Viral Hepatitis, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and Tuberculosis," which will be published by Public Health Reports (PHR). The CDC is seeking papers on  policy (including legal) interventions or strategies that have affected burden, outcomes or disparities for these diseases. More information.

ANAC ED appointed co-chair for AIDS2020

ANAC Executive Director Carole Treston has been appointed co-chair of the community and leadership planning committee for AIDS2020, the international HIV/AIDS conference to be held in San Francisco in July 2020. We look forward to the conference and opportunities to acknowledge and share the many contributions of nurses from across the globe.

International Nursing Network for HIV/AIDS Research meeting
Information and registration is available for the 2019 International Nursing Network for HIV/AIDS Research winter meeting, to be held in San Francisco January 10-11, 2019. Contact Yvette Cuca, UCSF School of Nursing, for more information and to register.

Heilbrunn Nurse Scholar Award
The Heilbrunn award is a 1-2 year program that provides financial support for nurses to pursue independent research projects and make a contribution to the discipline of nursing. The maximum amount of funding per proposal is $25,000 (total). Applications are due between January 21-30, 2019. All applicants will be notified of the disposition of their proposal by April 1, 2019. More information.

ANAC seeks membership manager
We are currently recruiting a full-time membership manager position. We seek an experienced person to support and expand services, outreach and communications to ANAC members and prospective members. This position will also support chapter development and operations, and provide support to related national ANAC committees. More information and to apply.
