September 2018 Resources

Our Mission:
Supporting lifelong faith formation
in the home and congregation.

From the President's Desk

Dear friends,

Last week I had the privilege of attending the event, The Christian Education Network presents... How to Create A Safety Plan for Your Church. Those few hours have already impacted the congregation I serve as I listen to the next steps. It was a big idea that took many people countless hours to publish, a financial sponsor who believed, and one amazing presenter. Thank you to all who participated. And thank you to all who made it possible.

As Christian Educators we are blessed with a rich treasury of resources. The Book of Faith Initiative, Faith Practices and Women of the ELCA have Bible studies and resources. 1517 Media, our publishing house, offers a multitude of curricula, books and Bibles. The CENetwork is working hard to curate resources such as our Pinterest boards and our Facebook Group.

In October, the Christian Education Network board will gather in Chicago for our annual meeting. Part of the time will be spent working on the 2019 Big Idea. As we do so, we covet your prayers.

Fifteen years ago, the Lutheran Association of Christian Educators was formed for the purpose of supporting and encouraging you who are in the congregation. That was before social media and instant answers. It was when we mailed print newsletters and formed chapters to meet for mutual support. But times have changed. Our name has changed. Our media has changed. But our purpose and our mission are the same: to encourage one another as we build up the body of Christ.

As we gather in Chicago, know that you and your ministry are in our prayers as we seek where God is calling us in the future.

Blessings on your journey,

Pastor Juli Lejman-Guy, President
CENetwork of the ELCA

St. Michael and All Angels is September 29

Everlasting God,

You have wonderfully established the ministries of angels and mortals. Mercifully grant that as Michael and the angels contend against the cosmic forces of evil, so by your direction they may help and defend us here on earth, through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God whom we worship and praise with angels and archangels and all the company of heaven, now and forever.

Amen.  (ELW p. 58)
