A Call to Return to the Kingdom of God

Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” “Is that your own idea,” Jesus asked, “or did others talk to you about me?” “Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?” Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” “You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
John 18:33-37

Jesus is being questioned by Pilate and makes it abundantly clear that Pilate’s idea of a “king” is much different from actually being The King. Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me.” (Matthew 28:18). The Kingdom of God is fully and completely encompassed in Jesus and in His saving work. This is so wonderfully highlighted in our profession of faith in the words of the Apostles Creed. (The word Creed comes from the Latin word credo which simply means “I believe.”)

We proclaim...

"And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead."

What does this mean? I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary, is my Lord, who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned person, purchased and won me from all sins, from death, and from the power of the devil; not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and with His innocent suffering and death, that I may be His own and live under Him in His kingdom and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, just as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity. This is most certainly true.
Luther’s Small Catechism

I read this often, because it reminds me of who Jesus is, who I am, what He has done for me, and the way in which he did it. All of this He did for you too! Thanks be to God who is gracious, compassionate, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love.

Prayer: Thank you King Jesus for purchasing me with your precious blood and innocent suffering and death. You are our King both now and forever. AMEN

LWML 2021 Projects

Dear Sisters in Christ,

That is ALL ladies of Grace Fellowship…AND every lady we know and don’t know! WOW…that is amazing to think about isn’t it!

This past year we have missed our hugs and smiles. We long to worship and study together. Lutheran Women's Missionary League has been working to communicate and provide news of all the needs throughout the world, in our communities and our churches. There still are our goals to provide grants promised to many needy projects and people.

We have not been able to meet or be together to talk about how Grace Fellowship LWML can help to serve Him with gladness. I feel we can now meet, maintaining social distance, and using masks to talk about what we want to do using the many talents and resources within our church to help in the mission field.

I invite you to come to Grace Fellowship THIS SATURDAY, March 20th, 9:30-11:00a.m. for a light brunch as we take time to set goals for the rest of this year. Please join us as we Rejoice in this opportunity!

Bring your Mite box...OR come to get one!

Please call me if you have questions.

1st Peter Bible Study
A message from Jackie...

This new Precept Bible Study is an 8-week class that I plan to start on April 7 and end on May 26th. It starts after Easter Sunday and ends before Memorial Day. There will be no Zero class this time, but I would be happy to do one if anyone is interested. This means your study of the first lesson will start on March 30/31.

It is a classic Precept format with an overview followed by chapter studies for each of the 5 chapters. I think after being in prophecy for so long, studying about our "sure salvation" will be a welcome respite.

This class will be on Zoom on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm. Tuesday is a coed class, Wednesday is a ladies only class. These classes will be kept in sync so you will be able to switch nights if you can't make the night you signed up for.

You will need to order your own book if you don't live in the Eagle/Gypsum area. The book is on Precept.org at  <https://shop.precept.org/pages/1-peter-precept-upon-precept>  You may choose your favorite Bible translation of ESV or NASB, either will work. Try to order your book immediately since we only have 2 weeks until you need to start your homework. Lesson One is available online for free if your book doesn't arrive on time.

The cost of the workbook is $18.00, plus shipping.

If you live in the Eagle/Gypsum area I would be happy to order your book along with mine, which saves a few dollars in shipping costs. Let me know ASAP if you want me to order your book for you.
Please email me at [email protected] and let me know if you,

1) plan on taking the class
2) which night you prefer
3) if you need me to order your book.

I'm excited to start this new study with you!

In Christ together,
Jackie
New Administrative Assistant
After a voter's meeting, we're excited to welcome Brookelyn Kraft as our new administrative assistant here at Grace Fellowship! She has worked with the church before in a similar position and has already helped to initiate many new projects. Welcome Brookelyn!

A word from Brookelyn...

"Thank you all for the opportunity to help serve our church and serve each of you! I am very excited to help us grow and focus on new ministry opportunities. I will be at church on Sundays between services, so please feel free to pull me aside for any questions or administrative needs. My contact information is also listed below. I am excited for the big things to come for our church!"
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
