 The Book of Joy
This New York Times bestseller subtitled "Lasting Happiness in a Changing World" features two  Nobel Peace Prize Laureates!  It is the product of the 2015 weeklong visit of Desmond Tutu ( Dharamsala, India) for the Dalai Lama  His Holiness's eightieth birthday.  They reflected on their lives to answer: "How do we find joy in the face of life's inevitable suffering?"  They detail eight pillars of joy, divided by mind (perspective, humility, humor, acceptance) and heart (forgiveness, gratitude, compassion, generosity).  The Joy Practices found in the last 40 pages of the book include Developing Mental Immunity, Morning Intention Setting, Overcoming the Obstacles to Joy and Cultivating the Eight Pillars of Joy.
Ed Reports: Find the Best Math Curriculum
What Math curriculum does your school use?  How was it chosen?  As schools have implemented Common Core, this nonprofit organization, has been evaluating Math materials for: Focus and Coherence, Rigor and Mathematical Practices and Instructional Supports and Usability.  Ed Reports allows for comparison of Math (and ELA) materials: see  Compare K-8 Math curricula and    Compare HS Math Curricula.  Here is a video on How the Ed Reports Review Process Works.
Check out how these Algebra I materials fared: enVision, Eureka Math and Agile Mind.  Click here to find out  Why Materials Matter and  About EdReports.
 Conquering Math with Michaela Hearst
"My whole life, Math has made me anxious. It was not only my hardest subject, but at times, it felt like my worst enemy. In elementary school and middle school, I managed to obtain decent final grades in Math class because of my extremely consistent work habits and nightly homework help from my mom. However, as I got older, at times there was only so much my mom could do to help..."
"Robin "The Math Lady" Schwartz, who I know from my neighborhood and spent 10 days in Israel with, posts all sorts of Math problems on her Instagram page. Robin is a (really awesome!) former engineer and portfolio manager turned tutor, teacher, speaker, and the founder of "Build Math Confidence." This past summer, I started doing some of her Math problems out of curiosity and boredom. I was impressed at myself when I got one of her percentage problems right. I started doing her Algebra and Fractions problems, too. Even if I got them wrong, I didn't feel discouraged and I was determined to find the right answer."
