Advent Faith Formation Sessions:
The Way of Love as a rule of life
 Our Advent Faith Formation series starts Sunday, December 2nd. This 4-week series will be led by our very own Revs. Sue and Molly and will focus on Presiding Bishop Curry 's call for the whole church to take up The Way of Love, a "rule of life" focused on practices for a Jesus-Centered Life. We will explore what this rule of life is all about in this series, and you are invited to participate in this journey of discovery each Sunday morning at 9:00 am, in the Norwood Room.
Here is the schedule for the series:
- 12/2: The Annunciation: Saying "Yes" to the Journey (led by Sue)
- 12/9: Mary and Elizabeth: Journeying with Family and Friends (led by Molly)
- 12/16: The Birth of John the Baptist: Journeying with Community (led by Sue)

Daily Eucharist
in the Norwood Room
 Did you know that St. Paul's is the
ONLY
Episcopal church in downtown Richmond that offers a daily Communion service?
This 12:05 service is a half hour and occurs Monday-Friday in the St. Paul's Norwood Room. Everyone is invited -- not just St. Paul's members, or even other Episcopalians.
We welcome those of all denominations to come and carve 30 minutes of solace and peace out of their otherwise harried day. Please join us and spread the word.

Vestry Nominations Are Coming Up!
The Vestry Nomination Forms for the class of 2022, to be elected at the Congregational Meeting on January 27, 2019, are available on the oak table in the Gathering Space.
Your nominations can be mailed to St. Paul's, placed in the offering plate, or placed in a box on the oak table. Please submit your suggestions as soon as possible but no later than Sunday, December 2.

Advent Arts & Crafts w/Youth,
Children & Families!
Youth + Children and their families are invited to come kick off Advent with us after church on
Sunday, December 2nd! Come make an ornament, eat some finger foods and snacks, and let us begin our Advent journey together. The ornaments and crafts will be given to homebound seniors to brighten up their holidays, so come be part of the fun!

Every year, the winter ball raises money for our
youth and young adult programming and pilgrimages, and one way we raise money is through a Silent Auction.

Introducing the 2018 Advent Bookstore
These books and music were recommended by the staff of St. Paul's for provide opportunities to read and listen to music throughout this season of Advent. We hope to provide you all with resources which invite you to look inward and listen, with silence and contemplation, to our own lives.
Many of these books can be purchased at "Amazon prices" during our Advent Pop-up Bookstore. There will be a table located outside the Norwood Room. You can purchase books from 9:45 a.m.-10:00 a.m. and after the 10:00 a.m. service from 11:15 a.m.-11:45 a.m.
Exact change is preferred; however, a card reader will be available during these times on Sunday mornings. You can also purchase these books online through Amazon for a hard copy or kindle version.

You're Invited:
Circles RVA
Poverty Simulation
When:

Nearly 60,000 Richmonders live in poverty every day. Many more have incomes above the poverty line, but their incomes are still low enough to qualify for programs like Food Stamps and Medicaid. It is difficult for those of us who have enough to truly understand the situations that families living in poverty experience every day - the decisions they have to make, and the fears and frustrations they feel.
That is why we are inviting you to walk a mile in the shoes of those facing poverty by participating in the highly acclaimed
Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS). Please register by December 3.
There are two different ways to participate:
1. Participant: you will be simulating what it would be like to be part of a family living in poverty and surviving month to month. The simulation consists of four 15-minute weeks.
2. Resource Table Volunteer: you will sit at one of the resource tables (i.e. utility service, employment office, grocer, bank, school, health clinic, quick cash etc). The families will need to rely on these resources to survive the month and will be frequenting some if not all the tables.
As a volunteer you will receive training prior to the simulation. When you register you will be given the option of choosing one, but we encourage folks to sign up to be a participant -
we are looking for a total of 80 participants!
Good Things to Know Before you Sign up:
- Participation is free but registration is required
- Light Dinner will be served
- Families with children are welcome, and children over the age of 12 are encouraged to participate
- Childcare is available for children under the age of 12 who are NOT participating in the simulation

Urgent: How to help victims
of the
California Wildfires
Many people affected by the California wildfires are stranded and in a state of limbo. Here's how you can help.
In addition to your prayers, at this time monetary donations are the most helpful. St. Paul's is collecting donations to send to Episcopal Relief and Development and the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California to provide emergency support for those impacted by deadly wildfires in California. Make your check out to St. Paul's and write "CA Wildfire Disaster Relief" in the memo line. You can put your check in Sunday's offering or mail to:

As of Monday, November 19th, the CA wildfires have scorched over 248,000 acres, destroying almost 14,000 structures and killing 80 people to date, a number which is expected to rise. Over 900 people remain missing. Virtually the entire town of Paradise, CA was destroyed by the Camp Fire, leaving thousands without homes to return to.

Laundry Love Ministry:

Are you looking for a way to plug in and help others but don't have a lot of time?
Laundry Love is the answer!
On the
3rd Saturday of each month, a group of dedicated people come together to provide laundry services to low-income neighbors at the Richmond Coin Laundry on N. 25th Street. We are looking for some interested people to help with this program.

A Wrinkle in Time
and the Sacred Text
** Book Group Discussions will be held at Rev. Molly's house. Our first discussion was amazing, and it's not too late to join! **
Each week, we will read a chapter of Madeleine L'Engle's
A Wrinkle in Time with a central theme in mind, one that draws out deeper conversation and reflection while staying grounded in the text. We will be reading the book as we might read a sacred text like the Bible or the Koran, employing themes and deep discussion to use the book as a lens for our lives.
The group will meet Wednesdays:
11/14, 11/28, 12/5, and
12/12. Come at
6:30 pm for a little food, 7 pm sharp for book discussion. We will wrap up by
8:15 pm.

It's Time to Give Thanks...

up near the Youth Room and Nursery. We invite ALL parishioners -- those young AND young at heart! -- to write things and people you are thankful for on paper leaves, and stick them up on the tree. Please use as many leaves as you like.

We pray for persons in financial need in Metropolitan Richmond:
For healthy marriages; for constructive, safe, and caring households for the bringing up and nurturing of children, and caring for the elderly.
We pray for all the Baptized in their daily work, especially those of our congregation and community who are in the garbage, trash, sewage and recycling business including collectors, treatment and land fill personnel.
We pray for those who are ill: for Mike Cizenski, son-in-law of Lynn and Peter Blankman; Elizabeth Hess, mother of James Hess; James Hess, husband of Erin; for Walker Campbell; for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and for Betsy Ann Dillon. We also pray for those who are no longer with us: for the victims and survivors of the shooting at Borderline Bar & Grill in California, for Sandra Miller, and for the victims of the wildfires in California.
Almighty God, we entrust all who are dear to us to your never-failing care and love, for this life and the life to come, knowing that you are doing for them better things than we can desire or pray for; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
