SUMMER GAMES PREVIEW

Registration for the 2019 Summer Games is now open for most sports. Click each link below to be sent to each individual sport page and for a link to registration. If your sport is not open for registration, join our mailing list to be notified when it is open.
NEW SPORTS AND CHANGES
Bay State Games has added events in the following sports for 2019:

New for 2019, Swimming has expanded and restructured the age divisions. Now, divisions offered include 10 & under, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18.

Summer Figure Skating is also reinstated for the 2019 Summer Games. Both USFS and ISI events will be offered.
SHOWCASE SPORTS
All Showcase Tournaments for high school students will occur in July. Tryouts will be held in June for each respective team within their own region and we be announced later in the spring.

High School Showcase Sports include Baseball, Girls Basketball, Field Hockey, Boys Ice Hockey, Girls Ice Hockey, Boys Lacrosse, Boys and Girls Soccer, Softball, and Boys and Girls Volleyball. Tournament dates and locations can be found by clicking on each sport.

INDIVIDUAL AND TEAM SPORTS
Bay State Games currently offers 19 individual sports and 5 team sports. Competition for individual sports run in June and July. Individual sports have Junior, Open, and Masters divisions and hold competitions for athletes of all ages. Team sports are for already formed teams. There are no tryouts for Team Sports. WINTER GAMES REVIEW
The Bay State Winter Games celebrated their 34th year in 2019. Competitions were held for Figure Skating, Curling, and Masters Ice Hockey, Athletes from Massachusetts as well as Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, and New York made their way out to the Berkshire region of Massachusetts for the events.
Figure Skating  ( ISI & USFS ) - Nearly 400 figure skaters took the ice in the event. 209 medals were awarded during the 25+ hours of competition.
C urling - 8 teams competed in the 2nd Annual BSG Bonpsiel hosted by CurlBerkshires at the Pittsfield Boys & Girls Club. Congratulations to the medalists:

SCHOLARSHIPS
FUTURE LEADERS SCHOLARSHIP
Bay State Games is now accepting applications for the 2019 Future Leaders Scholarship. To be eligible, athletes must be a high school junior during the 2018-19 academic year. Applications are due Wednesday, June 5, 2019 . For more information on the Future Leaders Scholarship, click here.
KRISTIAN ROSE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Abbie Weaver - Class of 2020
The 2019 Kristian Rose Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to Abbie Weaver on April 1, 2019. Abbie is studying sport management at UMass and was an operations intern during the 2018 Summer Games. She also serves as a manager for the women's basketball team and is currently studying abroad in Australia .

The scholarship is awarded to Sport Management students at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, with preference given to students with community service experience, and financial need. For more information on the Kristian Rose Memorial Scholarship and past recipients, click here

The Bay State Games Internship Program offers candidates the opportunity to gain valuable experience in all phases of Sport Management. Interns have gone on to work for organizations including the Miami Dolphins, Big East Conference, the New England Patriots, and several college athletic departments. To meet the team, click here .

STATE GAMES OF AMERICA
The State Games of America (SGA) is an Olympic-style event featuring competition between State Games medal winners (gold, silver, bronze) from across the nation that is held every two years. There are currently 30 states conducting or organizing statewide sports festivals known as State Games.
Virginia Amateur Sports, Liberty University, The City of Lynchburg and the Virginia Commonwealth Games will host the 2019 State Games of America in Lynchburg, Virginia from July 31 - August 4, 2019. Expected to attract 14,000 competitors, the SGA gives athletes the chance to compete against the best in the country.

This year's competition qualifies athletes for the State Games of America in Ames, Iowa in 2021. They will be hosted by the Iowa Games and the University of Iowa. More information to come.
