FROM THE DIRECTOR
“Father Leads Best”
|
|
I was just about to begin a physical therapy (torture) session with this young twenty something dad when he asked me, “Have you read any good books on parenting lately?” I didn’t know what to say. I thought to myself, “Does he know how old I am?” It was fun to hear this young man tell how engaged he was with his pre-school children. What does one say to a young father who is facing a crisis in America? I just read this article by the National Fatherhood Initiative that said,
“According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 19.7 million children, more than 1 in 4, live without a father in the home. Consequently, there is a “father factor” in nearly all of the societal ills facing America today.”
I looked at my therapist straight in the eye and said, “Trent, the family in America is under attack and it must be preserved. As a husband, you hold the keys.”

Our Update
My mama told me that ever since I could walk, I ran. It was in my blood and track was my thing in High School. I often relate many of my life challenges to that time of discipline. I remember us teasing other athletes of other sports, “There is no time out in track.” Today, God has asked Karen and I to run a different kind of race and do you know what we have discovered battling cancer? There is no time out!

"My Prayer for Letting Go"
|
|
|
I have close family members who were dismissed from their country of service by a repressive regime. They left behind a business worth 10’s of thousands of dollars and all their worldly possessions. They settled into another place, praising the Lord they were not incarcerated, but still stumbling over the disappointment of the move.
In life we all have disappointments . . .

"New Church Plant on the Horizon"
While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.” Acts 13:2-3

God has given CB North Central the opportunity to see the Kingdom of God extended in the Quad Cities, which is a region of five cities in the states of Iowa and Illinois: Davenport and Bettendorf in southeastern Iowa and Rock Island, Moline, and East Moline in northwestern Illinois. CBNC officially endorsed and voted on the church plant opportunity at a May 22, 2019 Board Meeting. I am happy to introduce church planter Gerad Hall, as the individual that God has called to begin this new work in the Bettendorf area. A lot of important details have to be worked out, such as a “sending” church that will partner with Gerard. Please pray for all those involved in this unique opportunity.
Here is a testimony from Gerard Hall himself. . .
|
|
My name's Gerad Hall and I am hoping that by God's grace, strength, and provision to plant a church in the Quad Cities. Charles Spurgeon was quoted as saying
, "We are not responsible to God for the souls that are saved, but we are responsible for the Gospel that is preached, and for the way in which we preach it.” My hope is to plant a church in the Quad Cities so that people will come to faith in Jesus and they will then have the courage & boldness to share that faith. Paul asked this rhetorical question of the believers in Rome,
"If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31b) The implied answer is no one. So we seek to go where the Lord leads. In the coming months you'll hear more from me on church planting and the progress our team is making. If you'd like to find out more about me please
check out this link to my introduction letter. If you'd like to contact me, please email
Gerad.hall@gmail.com.

"As Children’s Ministry leaders, we have all lived in seasons of hard ministry. We have faced the temptation to call it quits and move on. I’ve been in those seasons before, and this is my attempt to offer encouragement and words that you can come back to whenever needed."
