Dear Parents,
What are you modeling?

It’s possible for us to drift along through life simply looking up to people in whom we see goodness, beauty and love, because we do not see these qualities in ourselves. As a result, we begin to lean on others without realizing that we have everything we need to stand on our own two feet. The psychologist, Scott Peek, suggests that, “We are incapable of loving another unless we love ourselves, just as we are incapable of teaching our children self-discipline unless we are self-disciplined.” Your children are going to act how you act, and look at life and the world how you look at life and the world. What vision are you giving them?

Holding a strong respectful image of ourselves is essential to establishing positive characteristics we would like our students and children to emulate. “ There is no mirror that shows your reflection quite as accurately as your children”. Whatever our past has been, it is possible,(gradually and with discipline – a growth mindset), to learn to appreciate ourselves as a loving and loved person, a source of confidence for others, and our children.

  • Be kind to your mind. Gently change your thoughts if they are negative. Treat yourself as you would treat someone you really loved and care for. Stand up to and confront the internal voice of negativity.
  • Praise yourself. Consciously generate positive thoughts and feelings in place of old thoughts of inadequacy.
  • Be cognitive of what you are thinking; avoid self put-downs. Cease to be critical of yourself and others.
  • Be your own best friend – Stand up for yourself – (I think that makes sense).

We as humans start out as something tiny and as we are cared for, we have the potential to grow into an attraction to which others are drawn. As a parent you understand the quality of nurturing and Jesus has the invitation as to what to do with the developed quality. Take time to grow and develop yourself image. As a result your children and their community will choose to build their nests in the branches of your life.

God, our Father, We are thankful for our existence and for the gifts within us. Help us to develop these gifts so that we enjoy fully the wonder of our life. Amen.

Need something to do over Fall Break?
The ever so popular Cookie Harvest will be during the annual Craft Fair on Saturday, November 3rd.

Did you know that each family from Preschool through 8th grade is responsible for baking at least 6 dozen cookies ? It's not too early to get a jump start on your cookies and throw them in the freezer.

Although all cookies are appreciated and welcomed, we kindly ask for cookies other than chocolate chip, as the decorated cookies sell the best.

Our cookie harvest is well known for its creative and homemade cookies.
The class with the most dozen cookies made will earn an ice cream party!
Each family is asked to sell the 4 raffle booklets that went home in last week's kiddie mail envelope.

If you will not be able to sell them, please return all unsold tickets to the office. DO NOT THROW THE TICKETS AWAY! Each ticket must be accounted for through our Colorado Raffle License.

If you need more tickets, please click HERE.
