Community Church News
Labor Day, 2020
Rev. Sean Miller Leads Labor Day Worship
for the Community Church on Sept. 6
* * * * *
The Rev. Sean Miller preaches this Sunday @ the Village Green / Gazebo in Lake Bluff - his first sermon as part of our church family. Normally, we'd have a big party to welcome him, but we will put that off until Covid is in the rear view mirror - and then we will have a REALLY BIG PARTY! Please join us for a nice CCLFLB welcome to Sean!

And, another great reason to join us
this Sunday is Christina Trulio & Friends - with Chuck Wasseman on steel guitar &
Bob Hasty on violin - are providing
music @ the Gazebo!
What Happens If It Rains This Sunday?
If it turns out the weather is really nasty this Sunday morning and good sense says "don't have an outdoor service!" we'll send you a note around 8:30 a.m. If you do not hear from us, plan on our moving forward with the service. And, no matter what, we will either have a live streamed or taped service that will be sent to everyone on our database Sunday morning @ 9:55 a.m. We hope to see you for Sean's first official sermon this Sunday!

Break Time for Our Food DRIVE
We'll be taking a break from having our church truck open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 7 days per week starting today. We will be back - it is just time to pause the program for a short time. Thanks to all for incredible support of this outreach effort!
Sept. 13 Gazebo Service
Tom preaches (which is no big deal since he's been preaching at our church for 21 years). Here is the big deal - for the first time, the Community Church will have the good fortune of having Louie Zagoris provide Sunday morning music. Louie is a much-loved musician in our neck of the woods - don't miss Louie on Sept. 13 @ the Gazebo!

A Labor Day Prayer From
Bread for the World
* * * * *
Almighty God, Creator of the world, we give you thanks for the gift of stewardship and work. Deliver us, in our various occupations, from the service of self alone, that we may do our work in truth and beauty and for the common.
God of justice, we pray for all workers, that they would receive fair compensation and treatment in their labor.
For those who seek work, provide jobs — both citizen and immigrant alike. For those who cannot work, provide sustenance. Make those who lead the industries and commerce of this country responsive to your perfect will. Build up in the leaders of our country a respect for all labors. Deliver us, Lord Jesus, from the maligning evils of greed, sloth, and gluttony that we may lead lives of holiness in service to you and our neighbor.
We ask all these things for our good and your glory. Amen.
Last but not least. I just returned from Florida - spending a week with family. Thanks to all who offered prayers and thoughtful messages regarding my sister Sue, who recently had cancer surgery.
She is doing well while recuperating at home. Gratefully, Tom
