Friday Morning Edition
November 16, 2018

This week I got a new logo made for Camp Barstow that pulls from history.  What I wanted was a clean silhouette logo that we could slap on water bottles, t-shirts and just about anything else.  My inspiration was the very first Camp Barstow patch in 1930 (also similar design in 1931).  Although the camp has moved a few times including initially thanks to WWII the summer camp for Scouts in the midlands of South Carolina has always been named Barstow.  This new logo captures that iconic first patch design and seals it with some pride.

I want to thank Jason Shull who shard with me scans of the earliest Camp Barstow patches.  The design in 1930 was a little rough but then in 1931 it was a little more professional and added the yellow background that we've incorporated.  I don't have a collection of Camp Barstow patches but I'd love to see someone do a book (or heck a website) with history and scans of the patches from this camp and others in my area.

The other big thing I accomplished this week was restocking my antique mall booth on Wednesday.  This included adding 20 pounds of patches to my dollar box.  Ironically that's my biggest seller at the booth and gets people to come in and check out what I have on the shelves.

I must have done something right because Danny Ryan (who lives in CLT) hit the booth up yesterday and contributed to the $95 in sales I had Thursday.  Many of the patches that were in that 20 pounds were ones that were in my TOR tubs but seeing as I've really cut back on my shows because of all my camp and unit commitments it was time to put those out for sale.

I am continuing to list items from a huge GA OA collection that I am selling on consignment.  I've not got items up from four of the lodge including fresh auctions for Tomo Chi-Chi, Wehadkee and Hiawassee.

I am starting to see some momentum for the first TOR of the year on January 5th.  The Santee Lodge TOR is a Saturday only show hosted in conjunction with their winter banquet in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Have a great weekend,
