Grant us, O Lord, to trust in you with all our hearts; for, as you always resist the proud who confide in their own strength, so you never forsake those who make their boast of your mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

8 AM Morning Prayer in the Garden or the Nave
Morning Prayer is being said at 8 AM every Sunday, regardless of weather. As long as the weather remains fair, the service will be held in the Garden, but in the event of rain, and as the year turns, we will meet in the Nave. Social distancing protocols will apply in either space. There will continue to be no choral or hymn singing. Masks must be worn everywhere on our campus and in our buildings.
The 10 AM Morning Prayer service will continue online for the foreseeable future.

Introducing Dee, the Video
Our new Rector, the Rev. Dorothella Littlepage, know to everyone as Dee, has given an interview with Trinity Church Warden Martha Freimuth on video. You may watch the interview at the link below, or search for it on Trinity Church's YouTube page.
Dee discusses her path to ministry, her work in Massachusetts, and her hopes and vision for Trinity. Her wife Kristen and their dog Caleb also make a guest appearance.
|
|
IN THE FULLNESS OF TIME.....
In just 10 days, Rev. Dee Littlepage will arrive at Trinity to serve as our 13th Rector. This is an exciting time, indeed! She will arrive on Monday, September 14, giving her a little time to learn her way around the campus and our operation before officiating at services on September 20.
Ordinarily, we would look forward to having her physically among the gathered community of Trinity Church. We would be getting special flower arrangements, putting up banners, and planning a welcoming reception in Goodwin Hall. But, as we so often say lately, these are not ordinary times.
Weather permitting, Dee will officiate in the Memorial Garden at 8:00 a.m., and all COVID-19 protocols will be observed – everyone will sign in, wear masks, and refrain from close personal contact. Following the Zoom service at 10:00, we will say a few welcoming words to Dee. By then, we hope to have a more detailed and practical plan for welcoming and meeting Dee to share with you. She will meet members of the parish in small groups at pre-arranged times, both in person in the Garden, and via Zoom for those who prefer that option.
We have waited a long time for this day, to be sure! You may be tempted to drop by the Trinity office once Dee arrives, just to pop in and say hello. Please don’t. In order to protect the health and safety of our members and our entire staff, including Dee, the office is still officially closed, except by appointment. Dee is as eager to get to know us as we are to welcome her to our midst, so please exercise just a little more patience while we figure out how to welcome our new Rector in the time of COVID!

Please Be Mindful
In this time of pandemic, with reduced foot and auto traffic in the Asylum Hill area, there has been an increase in the incidence of vandalism. We have experienced vandalism on our campus, and have learned that other area churches have also had damage done to their buildings and grounds. The police are as present in the neighborhood as they are able. If you need to be on the Trinity campus, it is important that you follow our protocols: let the Church Office know when you will be present, sign the log book when you enter the building (there's one at each entrance) and be mindful during your time on campus.

Trinity Bible Study Invitation!
Our Bible Study happens through Zoom on Tuesdays from 5:15 to 6:15 PM. We have just finished 8 gatherings of amazing conversations about key parts of Genesis. Our ages ranged from 14 to advanced years, and everyone contributed. The purpose of the study is to become more acquainted with the Bible and each other. Everyone speaks for themselves and from their own background. We are not scholars, and no previous training is needed. We try to read passages before our meetings, but that is not required.
YOU ARE INVITED! On Tuesday September 8, at 5:15 PM we will start another series of conversations on the Gospel of Mark, probably the earliest of the four Gospels. This would be a good time to join the group, and try it out. We do have room for a few more. If you are interested, please contact Roy McAlpine at rmcalpine@comcast.net or 860-338-4525. We hope to hear from you.

Presiding Bishop Michael Curry to Preach on ‘Day 1’
Presiding bishop and primate of The Episcopal Church
The Most Rev. Michael B. Curry, presiding bishop and primate of The Episcopal Church, is the featured preacher September 13 on “Day 1” with host Peter Wallace, the nationally broadcast ecumenical radio program also accessible online at Day1.org and by podcast. He has preached on the program numerous times since 1990.
Curry was installed in 2015 to a 9-year term. Previously he served as Bishop of the Diocese of North Carolina for 15 years and earlier served churches in North Carolina, Ohio, and Baltimore. A graduate of Hobart College in New York, he received an M.Div. from Yale Divinity School with additional studies at Princeton Theological Seminary, Wake Forest University, the Ecumenical Institute at St. Mary’s Seminary, and other institutions.
His sermon “Not Just Me, But We” is based on John 13:12-15, 34-35, the story of Jesus’ washing of the disciples’ feet. He then gives them the commandment to love one another. “The command to love God, neighbor, and self is not new. It wasn’t new then, or now. Jesus made it the centerpiece of his message but it wasn’t new,” Curry says. “So, what’s new?”
Curry is the author of several books including “Crazy Christians: A Call to Follow Jesus,” “Songs My Grandma Sang,” and “Following the Way of Jesus: Church’s Teachings in a Changing World.” His latest book, “Love Is the Way: Holding on to Hope in Troubling Times,” will be released in September.
The program includes interviews with Curry conducted by Wallace, who is also executive producer.
“Day 1” has been broadcast every week for 75 years, formerly as “The Protestant Hour.” Featuring outstanding preachers from the mainline denominations, “Day 1” is currently distributed to more than 200 radio stations across America and overseas. The program is produced by the Alliance for Christian Media, based in Atlanta, Ga. For more information, check the program’s website, http://day1.org.

Consider Becoming a
Trinity Academy Student Sponsor!
Trinity Academy’s main mission is to reach children from the Greater Hartford’s lowest income areas and help them achieve lifelong success through education, enrichment, and sense of community.
By sponsoring one of our students, you will be greatly impacting their lives and their future. Every child deserves the opportunity to reach for the stars and embark on horizons they might not have been able to do without your support.
Key Facts about Our Student Sponsorship Program:
· · An annual contribution of $5,000 covers the sponsorship of one student. Your contribution can be paid in a lump-sum, semi-annually or quarterly. While it costs over $10,500 to educate a student at Trinity Academy each year, we also rely upon other sources of funding such as grants, as well as individual and corporate contributions to cover the difference between the sponsorship cost and the annual cost per student.
· · There is also no time commitment expected of sponsors—however, our sponsored students would love to hear from you or meet you from time to time, if you wish. You will also receive annual reports of your student’s academic achievements. Each sponsored student sends his/her sponsor notes at various times of the year, such as the holidays. We also hold a few events throughout the year when sponsors can come in and enjoy a special lunch with their sponsored student. Its just a nice way for our students to connect to the people that have positively impacted their lives. Of course, this is all optional - some sponsors wish to remain anonymous.
· · Sponsors can be individuals, families , social groups, or were ever there is a common interest of providing a positive educational influence on a student’s future!
