Join the Haiti Partnership Trip in February
|
|
The Haiti Ministry is seeking applicants for a trip to Haiti February 20-27, 2019. The trip provides an important opportunity to see God at work in this desperately poor country through Cindy Corell and through our mission partners. Participants will travel to different parts of Haiti, engage with local farmers, share in worship, and explore how our presbytery can go deeper in our relationship. The focus of this partnership trip is not physical labor, but about making a crucial difference as we bring hope and empowerment, which is essential for self-development and transformation. The presbytery provides part of the trip cost. Find the application at
presbyteryofthejames.com/haiti
.
Apply by November 30.

Your last opportunities to see Mission Co-worker Cindy Corell on this visit are Sunday, November 25, at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsville and Woodlawn Presbyterian Church in Hopewell.

Union Seminary Awarded Grant to Map Children’s Faith Formation
|
|
Union Presbyterian Seminary
has been awarded a grant to help churches find new ways to communicate the value of religious practices for children and families in a diverse and complicated world.
The $300,000 grant from the Lilly Endowment seeks to learn from children’s museum curators, developmental psychologists, experts in media studies and language development, publishers, and other non-church leaders how to connect with children and families. Study organizers hope to translate this research into applications in religious faith settings.
