Lead Minister Search Update Front of church
Through Broadway members' feedback, the position description was shaped between Fall, 2018, and February, 2019, to arrive at a profile of leadership described in the Position Description. Specifically stated is Lead ministry in a collaborative model, primary preacher and worship leader, spokesperson to the community, coordinator of Christian Education, adult ministries, conducts weddings and funerals, pastoral care and counseling.
Review and prayer over twelve applications focused the field on three candidates, each a respected leader in churches of our size or similar. Conversations have been productive with one specific candidate matching the needs our members voiced. Commitment to a multi-cultural and diverse congregation was demonstrated and the candidate embodies the values clarified by our members as well as lives and leads in a manner of following Christ that parallels our own beliefs. References checked describe a life that radiates the relational love Christ shared with his disciples.
It is our hope that the Lead Minister can be announced at the Annual Meeting and be here late summer or early fall.

Be A Part of Our Civil Rights Pilgrimage
During the week of August 8-14, Disciples of across the Christian Church of Mid-America (CCMA) will embark on a Civil Rights Pilgrimage . This 2019 Pilgrimage grew out of Broadway's Reconciliation Ministry grant from 2018, which brought dozens of Columbia churches together for a book study, and concluded with a Pilgrimage organized by Broadway, First Baptist and Second Baptist.
Highlights for the 2019 Pilgrimage include:
  • National Civil Rights Museum and Lorraine Motel-Memphis
  • Civil Rights Museums and sites in Selma
  • Participation in Jonathon Myrick Daniels and Martyrs of Alabama Pilgrimage
  • Rosa Parks Museum, Legacy Museum and National Memorial for Peace and Justice-Montgomery
  • Birmingham Civil Rights Institute
  • Civil Rights sites in Tupelo.
The  approximate cost for the Pilgrimage will be $600; however, members of Disciples congregations will receive a rebate after the trip's final costs are determined.  A deposit of $100 is due by June 1, with final payments due by July 1.  The cost includes all transportation, lodging and admission to museums and historic sites.  Some meals are also included.
For more information, please contact Don at 474-5539 or by  email.
Register Now to ROAR at Broadway's VBS!
Hard to believe, but it is time to register for our 2019 Vacation Bible School at Broadway!  This year's VBS will be held July 8-11, from 8:30 a.m.-Noon, and our kids and their friends learn about the lives of the people of Israel during their time in Egypt.  Roar: Life Is Wild, God Is Good VBS will include building projects, but also look at how God's good blessings impact our lives every day and in every way!
Registration forms are available here, in the church office and at all Welcome Centers.  In addition, you may also register your child for after-VBS care (think Adventure Club).  This option includes snacks and supervised activities for your children until pick-up time at 6:00 p.m.  The after-VBS option cost is $75, and is limited to 25 children.  Deadline to register is June 16.   Download a registration form.
Spend A Morning with Us in the Office!
