The Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment funded
Mississippi Defense Diversification Initiative sponsored Mississippi defense contractors to attend the
Oceans In Action
Workshop in Gulfport. This annual event features new technologies in the maritime industry hosted by the Mississippi Enterprise for Technology at Stennis Space Center, the Marine Technology Society, and the U.S. Navy Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command. The event included briefings on new technologies and pier-side demonstrations of select technologies associated with the Advanced Navy Technology Exercise (ANTX). At the Port of Gulfport, participants watched demonstrations of new technologies, reviewed results of exercises recently held in the Gulf of Mexico, and toured recently-completed facilities, including the new University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Marine Research Center.
