President's Message

Dear CTGCSA Members,

It has been an honor to serve this past year.  It has been an amazing experience as I have gotten to know so many more of you that make up our membership.  It is a membership made up of really good people who are successful professionally and in their personal lives.  That success is earned through the character, integrity, and work ethic that our profession requires.  We must push hard to accomplish all that needs done, but we also mentor and care about our employees.  It's a delicate balance that all great managers must find, and a balance that is crucial to the success of our facilities.

Matt Cowan is our new president, and I know he is just as excited for the opportunity to serve as I was.  The calendar of events for next year is already set and has been posted to the website.  With GCSAA in San Antonio this year, CTGCSA has the opportunity to showcase to the nation what our association is all about.  That will be followed up quickly by our Legacy Scholarship fundraiser, which has turned into our marquee event of the year.  Through hard work and generosity of our affiliate members, this event continues to grow and flourish.

In my time serving the board I have also come to appreciate our affiliate members and their companies even more.  They offer so much support to this association and deserve a ton of recognition for all they do.  They sponsor our events and our association, they serve on our board, and are always introducing new products and innovations to make our jobs easier.  Thank you so much.

Finally, I must give a huge thank you to Carol Cloud.  I would not have made it through this year without you, and our association is so very lucky to have you in our corner.  Please know how very appreciated you are.

We had a great day at Olympia Hills in San Antonio thanks to a great turnout, terrific sponsorship and an outstanding venue. Thanks to all who joined us to show our appreciation for the support staff and crews who make our members look so good!

Thank you to our host Jeremy Laak and your staff for providing a great golf course.
The Central Texas GCSA has had the privilege of holding events at OH many times
and they always roll out the red carpet.

If you have never been to a CTGCSA Crew Appreciation event, everyone brings a prize from their club and everything is raffled off at the end of the day. Really cool and lots of fun.
Thanks to everyone who made it a great day.

Thank you PMTS for being our T-Shirt Sponsor!
Everyone went home with a cool shirt. PMTS has been the T-Shirt sponsor for
this event for many years. We appreciate you support!

And thank you to SiteOne for being our lunch sponsor. Yummmm.

Our Championship team was from Austin Golf Club. Good shootin guys - a strong 59.
They won in a scorecard playoff. See you in 2018 to defend your title!

Second place goes to Crystal Falls who also carded a 59. CF has always finished
"in the money". Even though Wayne has a smile on his face, something tells us that these guys could be best friends with a weedeater for a while. Take it easy on em, Wayne,
second place is respectable and there is always next year.

Thankfully the fashion police were nowhere to be found that day.

Craig Felton and the team from Fair Oaks had a great time.
Thanks for coming guys and being a part of the event.

Bruce Burger and the team from The Quarry were right at home with the native landscape. They carded a respectable 65 for the day.

Thanks again to all who made it a great day and a fun event.
See you again in 2018!

Thank you to our generous sponsors for the day. Turf Care of Texas was our prize money sponsor and Harrell's was our lunch  and award sponsor.   Thanks for helping us make it a great day at Lakeway!

Toys everywhere! Entry in the tournament included an unwrapped toy and our members DELIVERED! We donated all of these toys to the Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas and made Christmas a little bit more fun for some special children.

Our host Aaron Clary (left) and his staff had The Hills course in terrific condition for the event. Thank you for the exceptional effort for your peers.

First place honors went to L to R, Jason Chapman, Brian Daniel, Chris Dry and Mike Marek. They won by a 10 stroke margin (not a typo). Good shootin guys.

The second place team was all smiles. L to R Nick Smitham, Jerry Holmes,
and Doug Granger. Not pictured Gerry Diaz.
