June 7, 2019

Dear Friends,

Don't miss the very first Trolley Trail Day, tomorrow, Saturday, June 8. The Trolley Trail is the trail route connecting College Park, Riverdale Park and Hyattsville. Dozens of community organizations and businesses are engaged in this  active,  free,  fun-filled day of walking, biking, eating, and shopping. Click on the image below for the full schedule of events! My staff and I will host a table from Noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Riverdale Park Town Center, near Banana Blossom Bistro, Riviera Tapas, Town Center Market, and the Riverdale Park MARC Station. I hope to see you there!

On the evening of Tuesday, June 11, I invite you to join me at the County Administration Building, 14741 Governor Oden Bowie Drive, Upper Marlboro for a District 3 Open House and Board of Health Town Hall.

At 7:00 p.m. the Prince George's County Council, sitting as the Board of Health, is hosting a Town Hall meeting in collaboration with RAND.

The County C
ouncil  has partnered with RAND to conduct a Health and Human Services Needs Assessment and this Town Hall meeting will include an overview of the assessment study, interactive survey polling, and an opportunity for resident questions and comments. Sign language and Spanish translation services will be provided.

Click here  or on the image to the right for the flyer in Spanish.

As we move forward with this health and human services needs assessment, your voice is crucial to the conversation.

To make the evening--and the trek to Upper Marlboro!--more meaningful for you, I will host an open house in my District 3 office prior to the Town Hall. Please come up to the 2nd Floor to visit and enjoy refreshments from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

You may have heard that the Maryland Board of Public Works voted to move forward with some changes to Governor Hogan's plan to widen/toll I-270 and I-495 this week. I am grateful to everyone who reached out to the Board of Public Works about this.

Your voice is still critical! SHA is accepting public comments on the Alternatives Retained for Detailed Study. Comments are due on June 14. Please submit your comments online or via email [email protected].

Even more pressing, comments on the Washington DC to Baltimore Loop Project (formerly known as the Hyper Loop) Environmental  Assessment (EA) are due on Monday, June 10. You can view the Draft EA and submit comments online.

Many residents of District 3 and across the County remember long-time staff member Thomas Mayah, who passed away this winter while awaiting a heart transplant. Thomas's friends and family are planning a tribute event next Friday, June 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts to support the Mayah Promise Scholarship Fund in his honor. All are invited to attend.

Thank you for all you do for our community.  As always, feel free to reach out to a member of my District 3 team or me if we can help you in any way. #onlytogether
