On November 13, City Council approved our 2019 budget, and a rate increase of $4.68 to the monthly typical, four-service, residential utility bill, effective Jan. 1, 2019.
As a not-for-profit, community-owned utility, our rates align with the cost to provide service. Like many utilities across the nation, our water and wastewater systems are old and in need of ongoing repair and refurbishment.
This funding supports a significant upgrade to the Phillip H. Tollefson Water Treatment Plant (pictured at right), as well as ongoing work to repair and replace water mains throughout the city.
Our overall utilities budget is the lowest in recent history - nearly $42 million less than our 2018 budget.
