This October marks the 50th anniversary of UC Irvine opening its doors to our students and embarking on the UC missions of teaching, research and public service. During these five decades our campus has grown to accommodate 28,000 students and more than 10,000 faculty and staff. This tremendous growth has stretched our financial and procurement systems to the limit. A Collaborative Approach to UC Sequencing
UC Research and UC San Francisco/Berkeley Department of Supply Chain Management were awarded a grant to hold a consortium for University of California's Sequencing Facilities. The consortium brought together genomic sequencing researchers and administrators to better understand the research community's needs and identify opportunities to more effectively meet the growing demand. Last month a contest was held to name UC Procurement's new web-based benefit tracking tool. After sorting through the many great submissions, "Benefit Bank," submitted by Cindi Deegan at UC Merced, was selected as the winning entry. Congratulations to Cindi and many thanks to all who participated!
We're looking forward to launching the new Benefit Bank in July and to your continued support in measuring our progress towards our goal of $200M in annual benefit.
