Brown named Dean of Potter College
Terrance D. Brown will be the new Dean of Potter College of Arts & Letters at WKU beginning July 1.

Dr. Brown is currently the Founding Executive Director of the School of the Arts at the University of North Alabama in Florence where he provides vision and leadership for the Department of Music, Department of Visual Arts and Design and the Cinematic Arts and Theatre Program.

“Dr. Brown has proven his leadership abilities and we are excited to see him apply those skills in guiding Potter College and working with our other academic leaders as we continue our progress toward the goals set in our comprehensive plan,” WKU President Timothy C. Caboni said. “He understands what it means to be student-centered and how to help students succeed.”

Provost Cheryl Stevens said, “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Brown to WKU as the next Potter College Dean. He brings a wealth of leadership experience and an entrepreneurial spirit that will serve us well in his new role. In addition, as musicians, he and his wife, Tiffany, add considerable talent to our awesome performance capabilities.”
#WKUGrad series: Senior learns value of personal connections in business world
Anthony U. Itzol, a senior from Bowling Green who studies International Business, learned early on that making personal connections is vital in the business world. During his senior year of high school and while attending his younger sister’s school music performance, Itzol found himself in a conversation with his dad’s boss about college and career plans. Itzol explained that he was thinking about studying marine biology. He said his dad’s boss pressed a little more by asking him what his plans were for after college. “He asked me what my backup plan was, and I told him that my backup plan was business because I know Spanish and English," Itzol said. "During our conversation, he really encouraged me in that direction.”

Thank you for making second WKU Day of Caring a success
Thank you to everyone who made the second WKU Day of Caring a success—especially our WKU faculty and staff! As a Hilltopper community, 343 donors came together to raise more than $217,000 for 111 different funds! Included in the 343 donors are 13 first-time donors. Thank you to those individuals for making their first gift to WKU for this special day. Posts about favorite WKU memories and connections made on the Hill were great ways for people to participate and share in the day. There were such inspiring stories about our students, faculty and staff persevering against unexpected challenges and achieving greatness along the way. We even had 4.3 million impressions on Twitter (That’s a lot of tweets!). Let’s continue this celebration of the WKU Spirit as we get ready to welcome the newest members of the WKU Alumni Family soon!
Spotlight: Matthew Wininger
What started as a high school passion – caring for cows on his family’s farm in Barren County - turned into a three-part passion for junior Matthew Wininger.
