Strong Pledge Drive
Brings NWPB-Radio Close To
Fundraising Goal
More than 1800 listeners responded generously to NWPB radio’s spring fund drive – the best showing in years. About 30% of the pledges came from first-time donors to NWPB: that’s important because new members are a crucial component of successful fund drives. Other members renewed their annual pledges, made additional gifts and upgraded their monthly sustaining memberships. Together, those gifts made a huge difference!

NWPB is now at 91% of its fundraising goal – and we have just a few more weeks to reach the target.
When the fiscal year ends June 30, NWPB’s books must balance. You can help: Renew your annual gift . Get a friend to join. Give an additional gift . Consider a gift of stock , donate from your IRA or give the car you aren’t driving any longer. Each is a valuable donation that brings you inspiring music and substantive news programs.

New Radio Program Schedule Begins In July
During the spring pledge drive, you were asked to support another year of programs. Thanks to the donations of more than 1,800 listeners, most of our current programs will remain on the schedule! The programs also remain available on NWPB thanks to the program distributors and producers who granted NWPB generous one-year discounts in fees. With their help you will also be hearing a few NEW shows!

Helping Young People Succeed In School, Career And Life:
American Graduate
Education statistics show the number of high school dropouts reaching crisis levels. But there are community-based solutions. American Graduate is public media’s long-term commitment to help young people succeed in school – and NWPB’s contribution is a series of stories that highlight local educational programs, and the individuals that often make a profound difference in a young person’s life and inspire others to become American Graduate Champions.

American Eviction : Why A Nation Of Renters Can’t Make Rent
This month On the Media presents a four-part series on the nation’s daunting eviction epidemic -- a scourge that affects 36 times more Americans each year than the opioid crisis. American Eviction tells the story of this largely underreported phenomenon through a blend of data, research, and first person narratives. You’ll hear from the myriad of voices involved in the eviction process -- landlords, lawyers, activists, academics, politicians and, most especially, the tenants who are living through this nightmare.
The result is a probing look that reveals the systems and structures that make eviction unnecessarily inevitable, and how they affect millions of Americans. On The Media, Saturdays 8 PM, Sundays 12 PM, NPR News service

Sports Drama: JAYHAWKERS
Comes To NWPB
JAYHAWKERS is an American feature length sports drama following basketball legends Wilt Chamberlain, Phog Allen, and the 1956 Kansas Jayhawks as they fight for the NCAA championship. Guided by talented new recruit Wilt Chamberlain and coach Dick Harp, the Jayhawks make history on the court, as well as in the small, racially divided town of Lawrence, Kansas, where the push for civil rights is just beginning. The film will be broadcast on NWPB’s television stations June 29 at 9 PM.
