School Tax Credit
All Fountain Hills households will be receiving a copy of the updated FHUSD School Tax Credit donation form in the mail shortly after Thanksgiving. The Arizona Public School Tax Credit allows for a dollar for dollar reduction on state income tax liability for up to $200 for individual filers and up to $400 for joint filers. Donations can come from any member of the public, not just from those with children in the schools but the credit is only available for those who file an Arizona tax return. Contributions can be made in several ways including cash or a check payable to the school of your choice. However, one of the easiest ways is to select the "Tax Credit Donation" link below which will take you directly to the district tax credit page. Here you will find valuable information about the program plus a link to the online form where you can select the school and activity where the funds should be applied. If "Undesignated" is selected for the activity, this allows the school to direct the funds to any club or sport where they are most needed. By state statute, tax credit monies must be held in school designated accounts separate from Maintenance and Operations, Capital, or Federal Grant funds and must be used for specific extracurricular activities. This assures that donations are spent at the school level. Field trip expenses along with clubs such as Art, Music, and Robotics benefit from these donations. Tax credit funds can also be used for athletic fees. The goal for these funds is to allow you to target the funds to a specific purpose.
