Digital Citizenship in Elementary Classrooms
In Ms. Morgan's second grade classroom at Ridge Elementary, the students learned about what it means to go on the internet and who they can connect with online. Lessons similar to this about "My Online Community" are going on across the district in second grade classrooms.
In Ms. Carrasquillo's 5th grade classroom at Lake Elementary, the students are learning how to act safely, respectfully, and responsibly online. They are also learning how to identify secure sites by looking for privacy policies and privacy seals of approval. Digital Citizenship in our Middle Schools

This past week, Shore Middle School students began their Digital Citizenship lessons in their Health and PE classes with a focus on their daily digital media use. The interactive lessons using Nearpod had students engaged and answering questions about their use of digital media. The students had an opportunity to report, compare and reflect on their overall use of digital media. Students also had opportunities to discuss what some appropriate guidelines could be around the use of digital media. Students will have further exploration of Digital Citizenship topics in Health and PE class.
At Memorial Middle School students will be exploring the same topics in their Advisory, as well as in their Social Studies classes.
Digital Citizenship at the High School

At the high school this past week there was a daily focus on Digital Citizenship. Our daily schedule was adjusted to include time for a 55 minute lesson focusing on a wide range of digital citizenship topics including use of social media, copyright, internet privacy, digital footprints and more. In this lesson, Ms. Hall is leading her students in a discussion about creating a positive digital footprint and recognizing that any information they post may help or hurt their image and future opportunities. edu
