Racial Bias: "The Danger of a Single Story"
The final event of the CRU West Mission Area fall series will be held at St. Timothy's, Perrysburg on Sunday, November 18 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Tonisha Gordon, Assistant Director BGSU Office of Cultural Affairs, will moderate a screening and discussion of author Chimamanda Adiche's talk " The Danger of a Single Story" and introduce the Harvard Test of Implicit Bias.
The arts of thanksgiving
The arts of thanksgiving will be held on November 19 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the B'nai Jeshurun Congregation. The event will feature visual and performing artists from a variety of faiths and cultural backgrounds in a joyous expression of gratitude to God for the many blessings in our lives and the beautiful diversity of our city. Sanctuary Series Concert
St. Andrew, Mentor is holding a Sanctuary Series concert on Sunday, November 18 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Come and hear original music offered up by some of Northeast Ohio's finest singer/songwriters. Enjoy authentic Mexican food and community. All proceeds will benefit Laura, Jose, and Joshua who have been in sanctuary at St. Andrew, Mentor since October 2017 .
Caregiving & Caring for the Caregiver
St. Martin's, Chagrin Falls is hosting a speaker series, Caregiving & Caring for the Caregiver, Wednesday nights at 6:15 p.m. The evening will begin with a light dinner, followed by a guest speaker, and then a Q&A discussion.On November 14 the speaker will be Fatima Perkins, MNO, MSLIS, Director, Community Outreach & Advocacy at the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging (WRAAA). The discussion will focus on programs and support groups of WRAAA, and other resources for caregivers. On November 28 the speaker will be Lynn Hermensky, BS, Community Health Education Provider Relations Manager. The discussion will be on Hospice of the Western Reserve Being a Caregiver: Steadfast or Stressed: Learn how planning ahead, using relaxation techniques and taking advantage of supportive services allow caregivers to experience the positive aspects of caregiving. On December 5 the speaker will be Chaplains & Clergy as they lead a colloquium on The Role of Chaplains, Clergy and Spiritual Ministers in Caregiving .
Brown Bag Concert
St. Paul's, Medina will host a Brown Bag concert on Tuesday, November 20 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. The concert will feature singer, songwriter, and storyteller Jim Gill. Bring your own brown bag lunch or reserve on for $5.00 at least 24 hours prior to the concert by calling 330.725.4131. Coffee and tea will be provided. Free-will donations for the concert are much appreciated.
Brown Bag Concert
Trinity Cathedral is hosting a Brown Bag Concert featuring Jennifer Cochrane, vocalist for The Gateway Band, on November 28 at 12:00 p.m. Jennifer will perform "A Jazzy Christmas." Brown bag lunches may be brought or purchased for $7.
Christmas Tea
St. John's, Cuyahoga Falls is hosting a Christmas Tea on December 2 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. There will be cookies, sandwiches, and scones with clotted cream. The tea will also include a holiday hat contest and live music. Tickets are $12.00. To purchase tickets call 330.983.4017 .
Christmas Tea
The Medina County Historical Society will host a Christmas Tea on December 8 at St. Paul's, Medina. The St. Nicholas Tea Shop will open at 11:30 a.m. and the tea, hosted by the Ladies of St. Paul's, will begin at 12:30 p.m. Call Mary Jane Brewer at 330.722.1386 for tickets. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children. Prepaid reservations are required. There will be live entertainment and door prizes .
"God With Us" Concert
Advent, Westlake is presenting "God With Us," a concert by Dan Schutte on Friday, December 14 at 7:00 p.m. Dan is the composer of songs we know and love; songs that have brought joy and comfort to our hearts such as, "Be Not Afraid," "Here I Am, Lord," "City of God," "These Alone Are Enough For Me," and many more.
