Thank You and Welcome!
For over four years, our office and many events have been ably managed by our office manager,
Mrs. Ayelet Sror. Now Mrs. Sror will BE"H be moving to a position elsewhere. Mrs. Sror has been a real asset to our Kehilla and we will miss her in the office. We wish her much success in her new position. BiHatzlacha!
As well, we welcome our new office manager,
Mrs. Fradel Devora Stern. Mrs. Stern comes to us with many years experience as an office manager in Kehillot similar to ours. We look forward to working with her BE"H.
Please bear with us during this transition phase, as Mrs. Stern learns the ropes from Mrs. Sror. Your patience and understanding will be appreciated.

This week's Kiddush is sponsored by
Ms. Alize Frechette in honor of her son Caliel Zachai's 3rd birthday. The Kehillah thanks Alize for her generosity.

Project Conne
ction UPDATE
(new info below)
As the construction B"H has significantly advanced,
you may want to dedicate an item. As you can see, B"H many items have already been taken. The Rabbi and Committee still have not begun fundraising efforts, so this is your chance.
Two things to keep in mind:
1)
Items have been set at all price points from as little as $180 and up. This was done intentionally to allow all our members to BE"H participate and be a part of reaching this vital milestone in our history.
2) The pledges for this campaign are payable over the next year and a half (till Rosh HaShana 5781 - 2020) and are separate to all other pledges and charges. The opportunities are on a "first come first served basis" so don't delay!!
UPDATE: B"H the Ner Tamid in the Bet HaMidrash has been dedicated.
Construction Updates
B"H this week saw some considerable progress. New doors were installed all around the building. As well, fascia replacement and new gutter installation was completed. The new Sacramento entrance made some big strides too.
A new secure front door (Touhy entrance)
Masonry work and new door for new Sacramento entrance
New fascia and gutters,
as well as new secure door for rear office (sorry for the night shot)

The Geshem Fund
It has been very busy for the Geshem Fund. Significant sums of money have been distributed to dozens of people to help with rent, utilities, food and many other purposes. This has depleted the fund. Please help us help those in need.
Please open your hearts and your wallets and make checks out to the order of GESHEM FUND and give to Rabbi Raccah or put in the mailbox of the office or the shul and the office manager will give it to Rabbi Raccah. As you thank Hashem for all that He has blessed you with, remember the less fortunate who are struggling and in desperate need of assistance. Thank you.

Sponsor Learning in the Kollel
Our Rabbis tell us the great power and merit associated with supporting Torah learning. To that end, consider sponsoring a week or a month of learning in the Kollel.
Examples of sponsorship purposes include: in memory of a deceased loved one for their Azkarah, to merit a Rifuah Shilamah, or to honor a loved one or friend. In addition to the great merit of supporting Torah in our community, your sponsorship will be marked with printed pages noting the intent of your support that are placed in stands on the tables in the Beit HaMidrash for the duration of your sponsorship period.
Here are the costs for the various sponsorships:
A night of learning - $52
A week of learning - $100
A month of learning - $400
The Kollel appreciates the following sponsors of learning:
Two weeks of learning have been sponsored by Mrs. Shani Aryeh for May 31-June 13 in memory of her husband, Moshe David ben Gittel Leah. May his Neshama merit an Aliyah.
A month of learning has been sponsored anonymously for the month of June. The Kollel thanks the patrons for their generosity.
Blessings of Enjoyment and Keri'at Shema on the Night of Shavuot
In the
previous Halacha, we have discussed the order of learning for the night of Shavuot during which it is customary to remain awake all night and study Torah.
Reading the Order of the "Keri'eh Mo'ed"
Let us first discuss that which we have mentioned that it is proper to read the order of learning for the night of Shavuot which is printed in the Sefer Keri'eh Mo'ed.
Although this is indeed the custom of Sephardic Jewry based on the writing of the Mekubalim, nevertheless, those who customarily learn the Rambam's Sefer Ha'Mitzvot or listen to Torah lectures on this night have on whom to rely. This is especially true if the rabbis in a specific place feel that such a learning schedule is more beneficial for the congregation, for instance, if the learning is being held in a location where most of the audience is not particularly religious in which case it is important to draw them closer with pleasant words of Torah as opposed to merely reading the order of Shavuot which may not be so constructive for them.
Maran zt"l writes (in his Chazon Ovadia-Yom Tov, page 311) that many great Ashkenazi luminaries, among them Hagaon Harav Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook zt"l customarily learned the Rambam's Sefer Ha'Mitzvot on the night of Shavuot. Similarly, in the synagogue of Maran zt"l, he customarily publicly expounds some Midrashim of our Sages as well as some pertinent Halachot (in addition to reading the order of Shavuot). Nevertheless, in a place where the congregation is reading from the Sefer Keri'eh Mo'ed, it is improper to deviate from the congregation's custom and one should indeed read along with them as per the custom of the Mekubalim.
Blessings on Food and Drink on the Night of Shavuot
Those who delve in Torah all night and are occasionally served tea, coffee, and the like, they must recite a blessing before the first time they drink and then they no longer repeat the blessing every other time. Even if there is a pause of an hour and a quarter between each drinking, one should not recite the blessing again, for one has fulfilled his obligation with the blessing one has recited the first time.
It is preferable though that one have specific intention the first time one blesses that this blessing should exempt any other item brought before him.
However, if one leaves the synagogue and goes outside and when he returns one is served beverages once again, one must recite another blessing, for leaving the synagogue constitutes an interruption and one is no longer exempted by one's original blessing (See Chazon Ovadia ibid.).
Keri'at Shema
One should recite Keri'at Shema before halachic midnight on the night of Shavuot as is customary in all synagogues. (ibid.)
The Morning Blessings (Birkot Ha'Shachar) and the Blessings on the Torah
One should only recite the morning blessings after dawn (the time for which is printed in various calendars). Even one who has not slept all night may recite the Blessings on the Torah after dawn. Besides for reciting the Blessings of the Torah, one should recite all of the Morning Blessings, including "Elohai Neshama," besides for the blessing of "Al Netilat Yadayim," for one who has not slept at night washes one's hands in the morning without reciting this blessing. (Regarding the "Asher Yatzar" blessing, only one who has used the facilities should recite this blessing as is the case during the rest of the year.)
