Paradise Valley United Methodist Church
An Inclusive Church
The Church Council voted Tuesday to reaffirm its commitment to inclusion and to reject the Traditional Plan, approved by the UMC General Conference 2019. You are invited to join us as we live into the words in our Statement of Inclusivity.
Message from the Pastor

Sometimes it’s purely comedic, like when an odd couple meets and tries to get along. Can opposites truly be friends and suffer each other’s personalities and quirks? Of course! So God brings together people who are often dissimilar and offers the possibility of a fruitful if not interesting relationship.

Celebrate Father's Day with a Beer (Root Beer, that is!)
Calling all dads to bring their families to church Sunday, June 16 for Father's Day. Chris LaMont, professor at ASU's Film School and our volunteer tech guy at the Ignite service, will be preaching at Ignite AND at the 9:30 am service. We'll have root beer for all the men, a little like we had flowers for all the women on Mother's Day. The topic of the day is Superheroes! Who doesn't love that? Join us on Sunday, June 16.
June Worship Series: God and Film
Pastor Dave preaches part 2 of the new worship series for June: God on Film. The topic is unlikely friendships and The Upside is a great example of one.

Watch the trailer!

So, what do movies have in common with the Bible? Both tell stories and have characters and situations that we can relate to. T ake a trip to the movies this Sunday in church and see how God is revealed in the Bible and in film.

Church Council Votes for Inclusion
The Church Council reaffirmed its commitment to remain an inclusive church on Tuesday night by rejecting the Traditional Plan, approved by the UMC General Conference 2019, and reaffirming its commitment to inclusion and welcoming of the LGBTQ+ community. The group tabled the decision to join the Reconciling Ministries Network for 12 months, but will work on an action plan to move us closer to our church vision: love that crosses all barriers and embraces all people .

Paradise Perk CLOSED Sunday; Youth Choir on Tour
The Youth Choir and Bells are going on tour to San Diego this Sunday, and the Curkendoll family are chaperoning, so they won't be working at the Perk. They'll be back for the rest of June, then will close the Perk in July, when the Senior High Youth Mission Team goes to Costa Rica, July 20-27. Thank you to the Curkendolls for their faithful service each Sunday and thank you for supporting youth missions through your Perk purchases.
