PBIS store items needed at Cherry

As part of our school-wide Positive Behavior Intervention Supports initiative, we have started giving out blue tickets when students are observed showing one of our character traits, following school rules, or going above and beyond to be responsible, respectful and safe. FYI- if you see one at home, please send it back to school since tickets are supposed to remain here.

At the end of the month, students will be able to cash in their tickets for prizes.  This is where we need your help.  We need small, inexpensive items for our PBIS store. If you can send cool erasers, small toys, stickers, activity books, game cards, etc-  we would appreciate it. You can bring them to the front office or to your child's teacher.

Thank you for helping us to reinforce the positive behaviors we are seeing in our students.

Merci!

The first issue of On Vous en Parle! has been published. Please click here to check it out. They worked very hard on it!  4th and 5th graders are the writers and photographers at Oak. 6th, 7th and 8th graders are writers/editor at Armour.  They collaborate together using Google Classroom and Docx. The final result is published using an application called Lucidpress, which allows us to layout and publish the magazine online. The two teams, a total of more than 35 students, meet every Monday in their respective building from 4 to 5 pm. It really works like a newspaper: a collaborative and creative work between journalists and editors, trying to keep deadlines, to respect an editorial line, to inform a wide audience which is you, the students and the parents. Jean Pasqualini is our Editor in Chief and advisor at Armour, Dorothée Werner is the Oak club advisor. Enjoy!

AL in the community

XC Teams Capture 4th Straight
Champs TitlesXC

On October 29, your Académie Lafayette Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams both captured their 4th straight IL-KC Metro City Championships Titles on a 1.70 mile course at Swope. This year 8 schools participated in the Boys Meet and 6 schools in the Girls Meet. Each of our teams won with perfect scores for the third season is a row! In addition, the Girls Team remains undefeated in league meets since 2015. Their record is now 27-1 with a 25 meet winning streak.   Most importantly, every team member improved his or her time by the end of the season.

Official Championship meet results (6th graders not listed)

Congratulations to  Henry Acorn  and  Evelyn Parker  who were undefeated in league competition this year! Henry completed the race in 10:09 and Evelyn in 11:59.

Additional kudos go to Evelyn Parker and Isaac Rivera who were named the IL-KC Metro Conference Cross Country Athletes of the Year as voted on by the conference coaches.

We once again captured the Individual Championship and Runner-up Titles.

This year our League made 6th graders ineligible to count in meets, they could run but would not officially count.  In the spirit of recognizing the hard work of all the kids we included our talented 6th graders (Italicized and denoted by * in the official league results).

Huge thanks to you, our teachers, admin, staff and parents for the strong support. We hope that participation in activities like Cross Country helps strengthen our school as a community.
