Call for Volunteers: CIPS Education Review Committee
Interested in actively supporting your Professional Society? Looking for a new challenge? CIPS is looking for Certified Members (I.S.P. or ITCP holders) to serve on the CIPS Education Review Committee.

Before starting the review of applications review committee members will virtually attend an orientation session to get familiarized with the review processes and procedures. The monthly time commitment is around 3 hours.

Offering your expertise to ensure the quality of the next generation of your profession is one of the most important contributions you can make.

CIPS Education Review Committee Member Responsibilities Include:
  • Review and assess academic details based on educational transcripts and Canadian equivalency assessments;
  • Prepare detailed findings on the assessment;
  • Report the findings to the Registrar’s Office;
  • Provide clarification and advice to the Certification Council on marginal or rejected applications;
  • Provide advice to the Office of the Registrar on pre-assessments;

Requirements:
  • An active holder of the I.S.P. or ITCP designation, or applying to obtain the I.S.P. or ITCP
  • Education Review Committee members must be active faculty members at either the college Computing Information Systems (or similar) or university Computer Science, Software Engineering, M.I.S. (or similar) level.

IFIP position paper: "IoT: do we have a choice?"


IFIP has raised a number of questions related to this topic and is looking for comments and further suggestions. 

In particular ideas for following up on the possible actions listed in chapter 5 are solicited. 
IFIP/IP3 David O’Leary Award 2019 - Make a Nomination Today!
This award is named after CIPS member and former CIPS BC President, David O’Leary, who sadly passed last year

IFIP IP3 has named an award in David's memory and wants to acknowledge an individual or organisation that has promoted and demonstrated Professionalism (Professional Practice) in ICT, has worked as an Ethics Evangelist, and/or has made strides in fostering diversity among ICT practitioners.

The winner will receive a cash prize of 1,500 USD, and the individual or organisation’s representative will be funded to travel to IFIP’s General Assembly in Kiev, Ukraine on 12 October 2019, to receive the prize.

The closing date for entries is July 16 2019
