Parent Edition
May 20, 2021

Please note that our Return to Learn Plan is an addendum to our Student Handbook. You are reminded of the following procedures for Quarantine:

Quarantine
IF A HOUSEHOLD MEMBER OF A STUDENT OR SCHOOL EMPLOYEE HAS BEEN TESTED AND IS WAITING FOR RESULTS, THE STUDENT OR SCHOOL EMPLOYEE MUST QUARANTINE AND MAY NOT COME TO SCHOOL UNTIL THE RESULTS ARE KNOWN AND THE SCHOOL NURSE HAS GRANTED PERMISSION TO RETURN.

When informed an immediate household member has been tested, the student or staff who resides in the same home will quarantine until the result of the test is confirmed negative. If the result of the immediate household member's test is positive, the student or staff member who resides in the same home will quarantine for 10 days.

Students or staff who may have been exposed to anyone with COVID-19 are required to quarantine for 10 days, even if the student or staff tests negative or feels healthy since symptoms may appear 2 to 10 days after exposure to the virus. Please see the latest criteria from the Centers for Disease Control on "exposure" and "quarantine."

You have the option of having your student get a COVID test on day 7 after exposure and they may return to school and activities earlier IF there is a negative result on that test. Proof of the negative result must be sent to the school nurse at sdeluca@yorkcatholic.org. Please note that the test date cannot be earlier than 7 days after exposure.

If your student has been fully vaccinated and is 2 weeks past their last COVID vaccine, they do not need to quarantine. Proof of the vaccination dates must be sent to the school nurse at sdeluca@yorkcatholic.org.

Please be reminded, if a student tests positive for COVID-19, families are obligated to inform the school for the health and safety of the entire school community. This applies even when we are not in person or in session.

Any student or staff member who is required to quarantine must notify the following:

School Nurse:  sdeluca@yorkcatholic.org

Attendance Office:  attendance@yorkcatholic.org
Capital Campaign Phase II
Wow! What a difference two and a half years can make! In Fall 2018, York Catholic called on our dedicated and generous alumni and community to help make our vision of upgrading our 1950's facilities a reality. In less than two years we were able to complete Phase I of the campaign and in just six months we are already at $3.2 million of our $4.5 million goal for Phase II! We have already installed a brand new digital marquee sign and will repave the parking lot and replace the walks and curbs this summer. Plans for the Junior High conversion, infrastructure improvements, installation of a new press box and stadium bleachers, relocation of the grotto, and creation of a Rosary Walk will be completed over the next two summers.

To raise the remaining funds we need the support of our alumni, parents, and community! There are many ways you can give to the campaign including a one-time gift or through a pledge over multiple years. There is also the opportunity for several naming opportunities, detailed below, offered to recognize the generosity of donors. As always, we thank you for the support you continue to show York Catholic each and every day.

Rosary Walk
Donors contributing $5,000+ will be recognized on our Rosary Walk through a Prayer Bead stone. This beautiful new Rosary Walk will be stationed in the relocated Grotto.

Stadium Facilities
Brand new bleachers will be installed at our Athletic Turf Field. Contributions of $1,000 will purchase one bleacher seat* or a bleacher section can be donated for $75,000.
*Please note, the honor of naming the bleacher seat does not guarantee admission to events or reserve the actual seat.
Refer a Friend to YC
If you know a friend, family member, or anyone looking for a high-quality, Christ-centered education for their children who do not already attend a Catholic school, you could receive a $250 credit toward your child's tuition at York Catholic.

York Catholic's Parent Referral Program is a win-win for everyone involved. Referred students receive an outstanding education from York Catholic, while parents of the referred families get peace of mind knowing their child is gaining so much more than just a top-notch education. Families who refer someone who registers at York Catholic receive a $250 credit towards their child's tuition.

You, as parents, are our best ambassadors.  In order for the Parent Referral Program to be a success, we need information about individuals who may be interested in joining the York Catholic family. All you need to do is click below to fill out the form. If the family you refer attends York Catholic through their first semester, your family's tuition will be credited $250, spread into 4 credits applied to the months of February, March, April, and May.

It really is that simple. So go ahead. Please click on the box below and allow us the opportunity to do what we love -- help to develop, nurture, and encourage children so they may grow in faith, mind, and heart. Mail or email the form to us and we will take it from there!

The Parent Referral Program is open to all parents of current York Catholic students. The tuition credit is not available for referring your own children. The $250 credit is only good toward tuition on a student's account; no cash is given, and it is non-transferrable. A referred student applies only to a new student from a non-partner school.

Thank you for all you do for our school!

Baccalaureate & Graduation
York Catholic’s Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation for the Class of 2021 will be held Friday, May 21, at 7 PM at St. Joseph Church in York. We are honored to have Father John Kuchinski, York Catholic chaplain and pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish, as our celebrant and homilist. Mr. Daniel Breen, the Diocese of Harrisburg’s Superintendent of Catholic Schools, will confer diplomas. Tickets are required and will be distributed to graduating seniors. COVID screening, mask protocol, and social distancing will be observed. Congratulations to the Class of 2021!

Guests of graduates are reminded of the following:

  • Guests will enter and exit through the main door closest to the SJY parking lot only. Upon arrival, all guests must complete temperature and COVID screening with the YC staff. Guests are required to wear face masks for the duration of the celebration.
  • COVID Screening Questions:
  1. Do you have a cough, sore throat, or shortness of breath?
  2. Have you had known exposure to a COVID-19 positive individual in the past 10 days?
  3. Is anyone in your household awaiting COVID-19 test results?
  4. Students or guests who answer “yes” to any of the screening questions or have a temperature above 100.4 degrees will be required to return to their personal vehicle.
  • Guests will be seated according to the agreed upon Physical Distance guidelines by York Catholic and St. Joseph York Church and in accordance with Diocesan and State guidelines. Guests will not be permitted to enter the church until 6:30 pm. Guests will only be permitted to sit in their assigned seats. Assigned seating locations will be distributed to students at practice to share with parents.
  • Families are encouraged not to congregate at the conclusion of the ceremony.

Senior Transcripts
Final report cards for graduating seniors will be distributed at Graduation and will be available for viewing in Vision at that time.  Seniors will be happy to know that no transcript release form is needed for final transcripts. We will automatically send your final transcript to the college you indicated on your senior survey (According to York Catholic School Board policy, final transcripts cannot be released until all books are returned and outstanding tuition and fees are paid in full). If you have changed your mind about your college selection, please notify us immediately.

The timetable for final transcripts is as follows...since this is your permanent high school document moving forward, each senior final transcript is reviewed for accuracy with all elements. The Academic/Studies Office is working on this task at this time. The final transcripts will be submitted electronically through either Common Application, SCOIR, or directly to your college’s Admissions Office via email. The method will depend on your application process with the college you are attending. It will take some time to submit all of the transcripts, but we anticipate the process will be complete by June 11 for seniors who completed all academic requirements by May 18, 2021. Both Mrs. Phillips and Ms. Dill will be submitting the final transcripts individually to each college.  Athlete transcripts for Division I and Division II schools will also be uploaded by Friday, June 11, to the NCAA website.

Any student who is registered for the 2021-2022 school year at York Catholic, is a musician, dancer, or interested in color guard, should sign up for Marching Band!

YC students who are instrumentalists need to play at least at an intermediate level. Students who are new to York Catholic need to provide an audition recording. The audition will require the student to play two different scales of their choice and a selection from a private lesson piece or concert piece.

New YC students who wish to join the color guard must audition. Auditions will take place in August during New Member Band Camp.

Click below to sign-up for Marching Band and Color Guard by May 22.
