Principal's Message
November 16,  2018
Dear Families and Friends of OLQP:
When I was growing up, one way my mother would re-direct inappropriate attitudes was to instruct us to count our blessings. Make a list. Write it down. Show her the litany of blessings. At OLQP, we work with students and support their formation as people who think about others as well as learning to develop and appreciate their own particular gifts and talents. Through service, students have opportunities to reach out to others who find themselves in a variety of circumstances. Through day-to-day classroom interactions, competitions, awards programs, and mentoring, students have real experiences that support self-awareness and personal growth. It is such a great blessing to be in an environment where students are nurtured and encouraged to see the best in others and in themselves.
As we part ways for the Thanksgiving holiday, my prayer for you and yours is to cherish your family time and make time to count your blessings.
Thank you for being part of the mission and ministry of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
Mrs. Marianne Mechura, M.Ed.

Did You Know?
               School Uniforms
If you did not grow up going to a private school, you may wonder why uniforms are an important part of school standards. Wearing a school uniform frees families from putting undue emphasis on the external. Uniforms help students see the person - not the clothes. There are no status symbols. The only logo allowed is the OLQP logo. Uniforms are also meant to provide a standard of neatness and order both to the appearance of individual children and to the school community, in general. Finally, some of the requirements are based on safety concerns and the need to provide a distraction free environment. Staff and family support of school standards is an important part of building a strong community.
Now that the cold weather is upon us, please be reminded of dress code notes found in the Family Handbook (See Parent Spot on the website)
OUTERWEAR ALL STUDENTS
All uniform outerwear will be navy blue monogrammed with the round OLQP Logo, including sweaters, vests, zip up sweatshirts, and pullover sweatshirts, and fleece tops. These will be the only permitted outerwear to be worn inside the building.
If the weather dictates, heavier outwear may be worn to school. Please label EVERYTHING with your child's name so that we can return lost items in a timely manner.
SHOES, SOCKS, AND LEGGINGS
Boots, sandals, clogs, backless shoes, platform, or "light up" tennis shoes are NOT permitted for any students PK through 8th grade. Boys and Girls are to wear white or navy socks, with NO logos. Socks must be visible. Girls may wear plain, solid white, or navy tights/leggings.
