The Executive Committee and Nominating Committee are preparing for the selection process for the Pastor Search Committee, who will be tasked with identifying the best candidate for the Senior Pastor of Riverchase Baptist Church. Per the RBC By Laws, the Pastor Search Committee is comprised of nine members from the church who meet the age requirement of 21 years and over, and who are not watch-care members. Although watch-care members are not allowed to serve on the Pastor Search Committee, they can nominate eligible candidates for the committee. The Pastor Search Committee members will be affirmed by the church in a special called meeting for that purpose, following the October 21, 2020, Q3 Business Meeting.

The commitment of each member of the Pastor Search Committee will involve working collaboratively with committee members to identify the best candidate for the Senior Pastor position at Riverchase Baptist Church. Understanding that COVID-19 restrictions and requirements may alter the process to interview potential candidates, members of the committee are expected to fulfill the following activities on the committee:
  1. Attend at least 75 percent of committee meetings unless hindered by unforeseen and urgent circumstances.
  2. Review and provide feedback on all selected sermon samples and/or recordings.
  3. Meet with selected candidates in person, or online as appropriate.
Upon affirmation by the church body to serve on the committee, each committee member will be expected to fully represent the diversity of the entire church. Members must be able to speak honestly, respect differences of opinion, and compromise when necessary. Considering the challenges of the economy and current events, the search process for the Senior Pastor may extend beyond 12-months, thus it is important that members of the Pastor Search Committee understand the extent of this commitment.

Here is the initial list of Riverchase Baptist Church members who are eligible to serve on the Pastor Search Committee. Understanding the obligations described above, please search your heart and pray about your willingness to serve on this committee. If you feel you cannot make this commitment, we ask that you please contact the church office either by email or 205-985-4495 to have your name removed from the list of potential candidates for the Pastor Search Committee.(*)
