Upcoming Opportunity:
Service Showcase Presentation Session
We are looking for dynamic stories, unique projects, and inspiring service to share as part of our annual Service Showcase and Celebration on April 22, 2021!

The Service Showcase is an opportunity for KU students to share their service projects and experiences with the campus and Lawrence community. We would love for you to submit a presentation proposal for this year's Service Showcase Presentation Session to help us share the incredible work done by students in this time of global crisis!

Presentation proposals will be evaluated on a rolling basis until April 13, and completed presentations will be due by April 19 to allow for timely upload to the CSL website for judging.

Upcoming Opportunity:
The Big Event
The Big Event is a non-needs, service organization that focuses on giving back to the Lawrence community by bringing together KU faculty, staff, and students for community service.

The annual Big Event will be on Saturday, April 17th, 2021 from 8 AM to 2 PM. Volunteers must register to participate separately, but organizations can have multiple small groups of 3-5 people.

The Big Event volunteer registration will close on April 3rd at midnight, so make sure you register soon!

Into the Streets Week!
The Center for Community Outreach (CCO) will be hosting their annual Into the Streets Week (ITSW) April 5 through April 10. 
 
This year’s theme is mental health awareness and advocacy. Programming consists of a combination of in-person and virtual events-- reach out to a friend and find events that fit your schedules!

Student Spotlight:
Radhia Abdirahman
Radhia has been selected as KU's Newman Civic Fellow for 2021-2022! Radhia is involved in leadership roles across the campus with various student groups including the Center for Community Outreach, HEAL KU, and the Muslim Students Association.

During her time at KU Radhia has has committed herself to bringing these perspectives to KU and the wider community.


As a Newman Civic Fellow, Radhia will have access to training and resources that will help her develop strategies for social change that she can apply at KU. The yearlong program also includes virtual learning opportunities and networking with hundreds of Fellows across the country.

Leadership Opportunity:
CCO Earth Summer Coordinator
The Center for Community Outreach is looking for summer coordinators for the Earth program

Earth focuses on promoting and engaging in outdoor, environmental sustainability practices on campus and in the community. Earth also provides opportunities for students to learn about the relationships between food, the environment and local food producers.

Interested in working with Earth this summer? Submit a coordinator application and email the CCO with any questions!

Community Service Advocates
Join the CSL for our final Community Service Advocates meeting of the semester on April 16 at 6:30pm!

The mission of the Community Service Advocates program is to help provide our KU service community intentional space to connect around overlapping initiatives, events, and programs.

We hope this to be a resource to you and your organization, to better be able to promote, partner, and build on the good work that we all are doing!
