TechTopia Summit Shows What's Happening in the Goleta Business Community
The site of commercial and industrial space along Hollister Avenue kicked off the second annual TechTopia Tour focused on Goleta's future business growth, in which attendees got glimpses of the city's assets, opportunities and challenges.

Some 100 community members, including business leaders and some  Goleta City Council members, took part in the  Goleta Chamber of Commerce's TechTopia Summit event, including a bus tour and panel discussion.

"It's amazing how many businesses we have doing such incredible things," said Kristen Miller, chamber president and CEO.  "In the last decade, we have heard more entrepreneurs and investors refer to our lush, laid-back landscape as a utopia, and our vibrant array of science and technology businesses as a technology hub - if you squish those together, someone coined the phrase 'techtopia.'"

City and County Encourage Businesses to Prepare for Emergencies
Most of us use cell phones to communicate, interact and get our news in a timely way.  The City of Goleta is encouraging business people who work in Goleta to sign up for the emergency alert system for Goleta, even if you live somewhere else.

This is a great resource for emergency personnel when they need to alert the community about emergencies and disasters. It's part of the Aware and Prepare Initiative in the County of Santa Barbara and more information about the program can be found here www.awareandprepare.org

For alerts specific to the City of Goleta, stay informed with email and/or text alerts by registering here. Check the box for emergency notifications in English or selected "Goleta en Espanol" for Spanish language alerts.  You may also text Goleta Emergency to 468311 (for alerts in English) or text Goleta Spanish to 468311 for alerts in Spanish.  If you prefer to receive a phone call, please email [email protected] with your preferred phone number, address and language preference (English or Spanish).

Fire, flood, hazardous spills, active shooter, extreme weather. There are things you need to know when they're happening to protect yourself, your family and friends, and co-workers and employees. If emergency responders can't reach you, they can't alert you.

Emergencies can happen at any time.  Sign up today.
