"Letting Go"
Rev. Meghan Cefalu
Worship Associate: Jen Bearden

Sometimes we hold onto a story about ourselves or someone else that blinds us to the truth and the complexity of who we, or they, really are. These stories can prevent us from growing and often place an unnecessary wall between us. Today we will focus on being present to what is, choosing to see ourselves and one another more clearly and letting go of untrue stories.

Every year, as a congregation, we express our appreciation and give thanks to our UUFSD staff. Our music director, accompanist, sound engineer, RE director, childcare staff, facilities set up staff, office administrator and of course, our Minister, all work tirelessly to make our experiences at UUFSD inviting & meaningful.

Let's show them that we recognize and value their dedication and service!
New to UU Gathering
Sunday, November 18th, 12:20-1:30pm in Palmer Library

Are you new to UU? Or new to our Fellowship? Would you like to learn more about joining? Join us at the New to UU Gathering on Sunday, November 18, 12:15pm - 1:30pm, for an informal introduction and chat. Light refreshments served, and childcare is available. For more info or to RSVP, contact Kay Bolden, kay@UUFSD.org . Everyone's spiritual journey is unique. How can we support yours?
Parent Support Group
First Meeting, November 20th, 6:00-7:30pm, Palmer Library

Offered to parents of children in the UUFSD RE program - all ages. Leaders are Glenn and Barbara Bortnick, who raised their children at UUFSD. Glenn is a clinical and school psychologist, currently working with middle school students in the Vista Unified School District. Barbara has a social work background and is working at an elementary school in the Encinitas School District as a special education instructional aide. The challenges of parenting often leave us feeling confused and alone. By finding other parents who are facing, or have faced similar issues, many parents feel better able to navigate these challenges through a place for support, resources, a place to vent, and a place to share frustrations and successes.

We will meet on the third week of the month beginning on Tuesday, November 20th and Tuesday, December 18th in Founders Hall. Then it goes to the third Wednesday of the month beginning January 16th in Palmer Library.

Please RSVP interest and any childcare requirements to Glenn at gbortnick@roadrunner.com

for the Thanksgiving Holiday
UUFSD Thanksgiving Dinner
Thursday, November 22nd
1:00pm in Founders Hall

The meaning of Thanksgiving has undergone numerous transitions -- an expression of gratitude for survival, a council’s recognition of its flourishing community, friendship of the local indigenous people, the defeat over the British, resulting in a collection of our nation’s traditions and values. Over the centuries, families added their customs to the Thanksgiving celebration, preserving that which they held most precious.

The UUFSD Family Tradition is coming together to celebrate Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving Dinner will be on Thursday, November 22, at 1:00 in the Founders’ Hall. Bring your family, your favorite friends, and a dish to share. Everyone is welcomed.

The updated Kitchen will be christened with the cooking of Turkeys and dressing for sure. So sign up on the patio at the Turkey table so we know how many plates to set out.

But if you forgot to sign up and find you can come, don't worry! Put on your clothes, grab your car keys and meet us there. We always have more than can be eaten.

WE ARE FAMILY COMING TOGETHER TO CELEBRATE AND SHARE LOVE.

If you didn't sign up on the patio you can just email Louise at lovenlou@gmail.com

Accessible Parking at UUFSD

Some of us know that little "rush" that comes when we arrive to services early on a Sunday and get one of those prime parking spots in the Fellowship's upper lot.

We are now asking our members to please leave the upper lot available on Sundays to those members and visitors who may have mobility issues. Unless you have a pre-assigned parking spot in the upper lot, please park in the larger lot below.

We appreciate everyone's consideration and assistance in our efforts to make our Fellowship more mobility-friendly.
PLANTING FOR MONARCH BUTTERFLIES

WHY PLANT:

Monarch populations have fallen 90% in the past 20 years, largely due to the loss of milkweed habitat. Conservation efforts can mitigate their decline and add delight to our gardens.

November Monthly Call to Action!

Demand action against gun violence by calling your US Senator(s) with this call script: “Hi. My name is [NAME] and I'm a constituent from [CITY, ZIPCODE]. I'm calling to ask Senator [HARRIS/FEINSTEIN] to take action to reduce the epidemic of gun violence in the US by reinstating a federal ban on the purchase of high-capacity magazines and military-style assault weapons. 65% of Americans support reinstatement of this policy. Thank you.”

Please consider doing this soon and include your holiday shopping.

It is important to remember that whenever you order from Amazon, you must use the Smile.Amazon.Com website--all the same things, just a different portal that keeps track of the expenditures.
