With a health information exchange (HIE), patient information is electronically exchanged through a secure network under strict medical privacy and confidentiality procedures. This allows physicians and other healthcare practitioners to access critical patient information at the point of care and provide better quality patient care in a more efficient, timely manner.
It is KHIN’s mission is to provide technology products and services relevant to compliant patient data collection and offer affiliated quality and reimbursement reporting tools to lighten the workload for members. This mission lead to the development of healthcare
analytics dashboards
for members. This add-on product is practice-specific, meaning you only see data about the patients you have provided care for at your facility in the past 18 months. The analytics reveal to you the patient’s aggregated data for you patient panel to include data from all the connected facilities in the HIE.
The KHIN
analytics dashboards
provide value to members in numerous ways. For example, providers participating in an ACO (Accountable Care Organization) or Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) seek to reduce costs and improve quality. Several of the analytics reports available provide helpful information intended to support costs savings and quality initiatives.
Many providers are required to participate in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) under CMS. Effective January 1, 2020 eligible providers will need to report 2019 data (by end of March 2020) for a 2021 Medicare reimbursement adjustment. Providers receive a score of 0-100, with Quality Measures accounting for 45% of their score and cost making up 15% in 2019. The KHIN analytics dashboards have been designed to help providers and practices thrive with regard to MIPS reporting as well.
