The Book Fair is at the elementary school, starting TODAY through November 8! New this year: Usborne books will be joining the book fair, along with a larger selection of Scholastic books, making this our biggest book fair yet and giving us a stronger preschool – sixth grade offering! In addition, we will be having a drawing for grown-up books too! Books will be available for purchase before and after school, during lunch, and throughout parent teacher conferences as listed below. The book fair is a great opportunity to build up your child’s home library (think Christmas!), our classroom libraries, and our school library as well. For a larger selection or to shop from home, visit our Scholastic online book fair HERE and our Usborne online book fair HERE . The online fair is running October 30 through November 12. Volunteers are still needed to make this exciting event happen! Please consider signing up to help at: https://signup.com/go/zwbOUnv . If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Mrs. Karen Rast ( [email protected] ).

Thanksgiving Food Drive! - We are planning our campus-wide Thanksgiving Food Drive – and we need your help!  Students from grades K-12 are asked to bring non-perishable food (and other items suggested below) which will be donated to Project Hope, our local food bank The number of families in need in our community has greatly increased in recent years, and the LC Food Drive contributes significantly to their inventory.  Students can bring food beginning Tuesday, November 5 . Students will meet in cross-grade level "Family Groups" on Tuesday, November 26 to sort, stack, and load all the food donations, so the food must be brought to school by the morning of Tuesday, November 26.  You are encouraged to make this a family project and involve your children in the food choices for their donations.

To be as helpful as we can to Project Hope, we ask you to consider the following :
  1. Press the orange button below to view the Project Hope shopping list of most needed items.
  2. Financial donations are also very helpful
  3. 14 – 16 oz. cans (unless otherwise noted) are easiest to store and distribute, please no large bulk items.
  4. Project Hope cannot distribute baby food.
  5. Please avoid glass containers they are more difficult to handle
  6. Not needed this year: canned vegetables, dried beans, pasta and tomato sauce.
  7. We could use some additional adult help on “sorting day,” so if you would like to help out, contact an 8th Grade Servant-Leadership Student, 8th Grade Teacher Dave Tjoelker ([email protected]), or MS Counselor Tammelyn Boersma ([email protected]). We’d love to see you there!

Thank you for all your generous support!
Moms in Prayer - We can't wait to meet you! Come pray with us and find community and purpose. We are moms just like you who have concerns about our kids and the influences around them. In prayer, we know we're not alone and this gives us reassurance and hope. Moms in Prayer is impacting children and schools worldwide for Christ by gathering mothers to pray. Join us this Tuesday from 9:00-10:00 am in the Middle School Band room (childcare is provided) and on Friday from 9:00-10:00 am in the Central Office. Please contact Meg Krieg for more information at [email protected] .

7/8 Music Chapel/Assembly  will take place on Thursday, November 7 at 11:00 am in the WFAC. The 7 th  and 8 th  grade band, orchestra and choirs will be performing in a Veterans Day themed assembly. We would be honored to have people attend who have family members currently serving, those who have served and those who would like to say "thank you" to our armed services for the freedoms we have today. Ultimately, everyone is invited as we praise God for those willing to serve and for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, like Jesus did for us, so that we would be able to enjoy the freedoms we have today.

6th Grade Musical  -  “Star Factor”  by Christy Semsen, reminds us all how each of us has different talents and how we are all special in God's eyes!   While attending Camp Heart and Soul, students learn that even when the world says "look out for yourself," we need to rely on each other, and how better life is when we work together. The musical   will be performed in the Worship and Fine Arts Center on Wednesday, November 20 and Friday, November 22, at 7:00 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm). Limited seating is also available at the matinee performance on Wednesday, November 20 at 12:30 pm. Admission prices are $3.00 for grades 5 and under, $6.00 for grade 6 and over or $5.00 with a canned or non-perishable food item for Project Hope. Proceeds will benefit future 6th grade musicals and the elementary and middle school music programs.

Middle School Pick-up Reminder (at dismissal) – Parents and student drivers are encouraged to pick up students on Drayton Street either by the HS, ES or Second Chance. If you need to pick up your child by the MS, please form a single line of traffic or come after the buses leave at 3:20 pm. Pick up is much quicker after 3:20 pm. No parking/loitering/waiting in the fire lane on the West end of the shop building, ONLY BUSES may drive West (toward the bus loop) on the driveway on the South side of the Horticulture green houses.  Thank you for helping us look out for the safety of our students!
