JUNE  2019 E-NEWSLETTER
A Message From Our President

Are you as ready for the summer as I am? My kids are excited to be getting finished with the school year, and we are looking ahead to fun days taking advantage of all the wonderful outdoor activities San Diego has to offer! We are currently accepting registrations for AWARE, our adult summer recreation program. You can find more information about this program below.

We hope that you can join our friends from Mainly Mozart at the Sensory Friendly Concert happening on Saturday, June 8th, and be sure to save the date and join us on on the first Saturday of each month at Get Air Vista for a Sensory Friendly Jump Party from 8-10 AM! Our support groups go on hiatus for the summer starting in June with the exception of our East County Support Group, but our monthly family events, Family Pizza and Pool Party and Family Gymnastics Night, will continue to be held each month, so be sure to come out for some inclusive family fun!

Finally, you won't want to miss our Internet Safety Workshop taking place on June 15th. Learn safety types that will show you how to keep your loved one safe while online. This informative workshop is only $10 and includes lunch!

Wishing you all a wonderful June,

Amy  Munera

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: JUNE 2019

The Autism Society San Diego is highlighting some of our amazing volunteers and honoring the work they do.

THIS MONTH...MEET RUSTIN PARSI!

As one of our valuable "behind the scenes" volunteers, we are so excited to introduce you to Rustin! This wonderful young man on the spectrum is the son of Board Member Gilda Fallah and has been a big part of so many of our events.

What's your connection to the autism community?
I am connected through my disability diagnosis and my friends.

How do you support the Autism Society San Diego?
I work a few hours a week volunteering doing data entry. I enter the email addresses of all the people who attend support groups and other events so they can get the news about what's going on in the community

What is your favorite program the Autism Society San Diego is a part of?
The film program [Lights! Camera! Autism!], Splash for Cash, Beers and Cheers, and all the different programs that benefit the San Diego community.

The simplest way to get involved in supporting our community is...
Raise awareness more, for the community to put on more autism runs, and for individuals to participate in more autism runs.

Give the gift of your support!

This year we have seen more and more members of our wonderful community support us by creating fundraising initiatives on Facebook as a way for their friends and family to give the gift of support to Autism Society San Diego. These fundraisers are easy to create and can provide so much for our organization. Thank you to all those who are thinking of us when choosing a charitable cause!
