Top Economic Development News

OED has wrapped up another successful Business Appreciation Week, visiting 109 businesses in one week! We learned that more businesses than ever have plans to expand over the next two years. 71% of businesses also reported that business was better this year than last year. 2018 has been a good year for many, including our office!

As we begin to wind down 2018, we're making plans for the 3rd Annual Frederick Real Estate Dealmakers (FRED) Awards in April, which means we're looking for the best commercial real estate deals and dealmakers of this year. Let us know who you believe is most deserving of this honor by submitting a nomination today.

I'm ecstatic to be able to share the good news in our life sciences industry which continues to experience impressive growth - from global giants like Thermo Fisher Scientific who recently expanded, establishing their North American distribution hub right here in Frederick - to a German-based cancer research firm planting their U.S. headquarters here. These companies are advancing healthcare R&D around the world. This is the kind of news that makes me so thankful to be able to do economic development in Frederick County.

Happy Thanksgiving and please remember to Shop Small on November 24!
