‘O come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
Let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!’
(Ps 95.1-2)
As we come together for worship this Sunday it is
almost
New Year’s Eve in the church. I say ‘
almost,’
because
almost
before the last strains of our praise to Christ the King have ended we are called to come, sing and give praise one more time before the new church year begins! We’re invited to take just a snippet of time on the busy eve before we gather around overflowing thanksgiving tables to intentionally give God thanks for the continued guidance and abundant blessings that enrich our lives. This year we join together here at Rejoice with our ecumenical partners from St Luke’s Catholic Church to literally break bread together and share in the soup supper prior to worship, (which begins at 6pm.) Then, filled with good food and joy-filled conversations, we’ll gather in the sanctuary at 7pm to worship, giving thanks to God who is, who was, and who always will be faithful!
So join us if you can. Safe travels if you are heading out of town for the holiday! Thank you to all who are working, planning, making soup, baking goodies, and caring so intentionally for this time of thanksgiving together! (And thank you to all of you who are part of the community of faith called Rejoice for being one of the blessings for which Bill, (Izzy,) and I give thanks this year.)
Peace,
Pastor Marlene
