A Note From Our Rector
Greetings beloved St. Georgians,

A week from today, many of us will gather to give thanks with family or friends. This Sunday we will gather for the “eucharist” which means thanksgiving. Every Sunday is thanksgiving day for us. This weekend brings some additional reasons to be thankful.

See Pastor Areeta’s message below about her wedding this Saturday. Thanks be to God when two people bind themselves to each other in love, a sign to the world of God’s covenant with us. Please join me in praying for them. I am excited for a blessing ceremony with them and the parish next year.

On Sunday at the 11:15 service, during the prayers, we will celebrate and give thanks for the new ministries of Pastor Areeta, Pastor David, and Hecti. This is an important moment to lift up to God those whom God has called into our midst for the work of ministry. I hope that many of us will come to surround them with our support. At the 9:00 a.m. service, as has been our tradition each year, we will present Bibles to third graders, giving thanks for God’s Word and these young minds and hearts. During the adult forum, we will give thanks for the prayer partner season that concludes this weekend. All are invited to come and reflect on ways we can pray for each other and the world. We have been inspired each season by the stories which get shared at these sessions.

Next week, we will send out an abbreviated version of the newsletter on Wednesday. Keep an eye out for it during the holiday, as there are some special events the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Please pray for all those for whom this upcoming holiday will be a difficult one.

Also pray for all those who have lost their lives or who have been impacted by the fires in California. We have parishioners whose family members have lost homes and others who are fighting the blazes.

Also I hope to see many of us at the Micah Churches Thanksgiving service next Tuesday. See below.

I continue to give thanks for this parish and all the ways that God is working in this place. Happy Thanksgiving next week and Happy Eucharist this Sunday!

Your rector and brother in Christ,
Joe+
A Note From Pastor Areeta
“And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.” (1 Cor 13:13)
Although that verse was written for the Christian community that St. Paul founded in Greece, it provides beautiful and wise guidance for this new adventure that Chris and I are embarking on. This Saturday afternoon, Chris and I will be married in a small private civil ceremony here in Fredericksburg. We would love to be held in your prayers as we make our vows and we look forward to having a parish wide celebration with you all next year!

Yours in Christ,
Areeta

A Book of Welcome
Have you ever noticed the visitor book in our narthex? It's a fascinating mini-chronicle of who has walked through our doors, where they call home, and what they thought of their visit.
Many have commented on how much they enjoyed the beauty of our nave—especially our stained glass windows. Others note the warm, welcome feeling that greeted them when walking through our red doors.
Feel free to take a look - Who knows, maybe you'll recognize one of the names...

Winter Clothing Drive a Success!
From Janice Brunson:

Thank you to everyone who donated winter clothing to the children of Hugh Mercer and Lafayette Upper Elementary School. We distributed the clothes on Saturday, November 10th, with the help of St. Georgians, school board members, and staff... just in time for the freezing temperatures!

We had 51 children show up at Hugh Mercer, and we did personal shopping for an additional 25 who did not have transportation.

In total, 76 children are warm and toasty thanks to your generosity. Your kind hearts are truly amazing!
