There will be a link to this service in our website to hear this beautiful hymn. Congratulations, Carlton!

Sadly, we are bidding 'farewell' to John Haley who is moving to California to be with his family. John made the announcement in church last Sunday.
It is hard to imagine the choir without John's voice and presence. He has promised to stay in touch with us!

Want to hear a terrific sermon? Or, hear it again?

Link to the St. Francis Website and enjoy last Sunday's sermon
(June 2) by the The Rev, Steve Hayward. Much conversation after church! We are grateful to Steve for sharing this time with us.

From Steve:

CIVIL DISCOURSE

AN ADULT FORUM AT SAINT FRANCIS

For Lent, 2019, The Episcopal Church’s Office of Governmental Relations developed a five week study entitled “Civil discourse”. Because their task is primarily to interact with elected officials in government, they had a very specific agenda – to explain how they go about sharing ideas and points-of view with people who sometimes hold very different perspectives. Through their work, they have attempted to create common ground and to have meaningful and civil conversations with those who have the authority to make policy decisions.

It is our hope to bring that program to St Francis on a more personal, community level. The central theme of the course is that we all have things we can learn from those who have different opinions, and we all need to better understand the under-lying values and concerns of those who see things differently than we do.

To that end, Doug Worthington, an upcoming senior seminarian at Virginia Theological Seminary, and I will present a five work program to challenge us all to be more civil in our daily interactions with each other. I, for one, have lots to learn. I invite you to a learning process (it will not be about debating issues!) Steve
From Sarah and the Discernment Committee:

"The first two gatherings to discuss the questionnaire went really well, and we are having the third one this Friday, June 7th at 5:30 p.m . This will be a pizza party with a salad bar - all the fixings, and a movie for the kids. We hope you will come to go over the questionnaire and discuss what values and strengths we want in a new priest.

Come for the pizza and a casual evening- even if you’ve been to one or both of the first gatherings. We look forward to seeing you there."

Our Junior Warden, Ellie Neuhauser , has been meeting with the St. Francis by the Sea Security Task Force for several months. They have been very involved with updating security at all levels.

There will be a congregational informational meeting regarding these issues in the near future. In the meantime, if you have questions, Ellie is available for questions or please talk with any of her committee members.

They are: Tony Everdell, Bill Gould, Brinley Hall, Fred Heilner, Katie MacLeod, Matt Murphy, Chris Ramsay, and Bob Tobin.
We welcome a new minister to the Peninsula!

On Sunday, May 26, we met The Rev. Donna Downs , who preached at our 10 am service. Among our worshipers were a number of visitors from Trinity Episcopal Church in Castine.

Rev. Downs has since been named Priest-in Charge of Trinity Episcopal Church . She is delightful and we hope she and Trinity Church will join with St. Francis as various opportunities present themselves.

Fr. Jerome is the senior pastor of two churches in Joliet, Illinois, with more than 1700 families. He tells eClare that he has loved card tricks since he was a boy. Enjoy!
A new 2019 Fair Booth being chaired by Sue Grindle! All things pets!
A Note from Kevin Hunt

"As Fair Chair, I want to announce that this year’s fair “Chair Emeritus” is Suzanne Decrow. After 29 years of Junque for Jesus, Suzanne’s commitment to the the St. Francis Fair is unsurpassed; and with that her unselfish gift to our peninsula has been shared year in and year out by so many.

Once again folks are stepping up for the St. Francis Fair which will celebrate it 30th year this August 10, 2019. While Booth Chairs have stepped up, there are many more volunteers needed to make the fair happen and given this is our 30th year, we want it to be a roaring success for the greater peninsula, and for St. Francis."

Ready, Steady, Go! Thanks!"
