Wages are Spiking Up for Florida Workers

Wages and salaries for U.S. workers rose by 3.1 percent over the past year-the biggest pay hike in a decade, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported on Oct. 31. Meanwhile, the Department of Labor's October jobs report, released Nov. 2, showed that, for the second straight month, unemployment stood at 3.7 percent, the lowest rate since 1969. Read more.  
Florida Job Growth is Ridiculous! Leads the Nation

According to data released on October 19th by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the largest employment increases over the past year occurred in Florida, measured from September of 2017 to September 2018.  The 407,300 new non-farm jobs in Florida also amounted to the highest national job growth percentage gain (4.8%).   In all, 37 states experienced job gains for the year,  with Texas adding 406,400 jobs to come in second place.  Click here to see more BLS data.

OSHA Clarifies Position on Post-Incident Drug Testing - it's not prohibited!

Few regulation changes of late have caused more confusion for employers and their drug testing policies and procedures than the December 2016 regulation prohibiting employers from retaliating against employees for reporting workplace injuries and illnesses (OSHA 29 CFR 1904).  Thankfully OSHA has just released helpful guidelines to determine if reasonable justification exists for post accident drug testing. Click to see entire OSHA publication
