Get tips and ideas for parenting and understand the significant role you play in helping youth be responsible and safe in today's high-tech world. New! Food Rescue Program!
In America, 40% of our food is wasted and one in six individuals are food insecure. OLG School is now working to help this issue by participating in a Food Rescue program during lunch.  The program involves rescuing uneaten, unopened, undamaged food items from school lunch that students either did not have time to eat or decided they did not want to eat. Instead of throwing these perfectly good items into the trash, students are able to place them in a separate bin where they will then be donated to Loaves and Fishes of Minneapolis to be utilized throughout the Twin Cities to those in need. This is not a food donation program, but rather a last chance option for food to still be eaten by someone in need, rather than thrown in the trash.

How it works:
  1. Students are FIRST encouraged to eat the food on their tray.
  2. Students can take their unopened, unpeeled, uneaten food/beverage items and place them in the food rescue bin.
  3. Items from home are not allowed to be donated.
  4. Food items will be donated to Loaves and Fishes of Minneapolis.
Tree Lot Volunteer Update (We've Got Winners!)
Congratulations to the Kindergarten dads who filled their dedicated shift in just a few days! In fact, there has been so much interest we will be setting up another Kindergarten shift for dads who were not able to get one of the coveted volunteer slots. Congratulations as well to First and Second grade dads who also got enough volunteers to win a NUD for their kids. Those dads with 3rd and 4th grade kids, please consider volunteering as slots are still available and your kids want those NUD passes.  If your class shift is full but you still want to volunteer, please do.  The tree lot runs on volunteers like you.  Contact Kirk.Grandstrand@gmail.com with questions or if you want to volunteer.
Lost & Found
The lost and found items will be displayed from 11/5-11/16 and after that will be cleared out and donated to charity.

Deer Hearts Needed!

Hearts can be frozen in a Ziploc bag, and brought into Mrs. Rossow's room (503) at any time. Questions? carolinerossow@olgschool.net
Upper Room Information
Last week we had our first session of The Upper Room! We had a great time at the All Saints Party with OLG middle schoolers, enjoying pizza, games related to the saints, and sharing what The Upper Room is all about. Students in grades 6-8 are welcome to join us every Tuesday in the Frassati Room from 3:15-4:15 to have fun and grow in faith together. Calendar and permission slips can be found here. Why should OLG middle school parents support their children participating in The Upper Room?

"As  parents , we all know that middle school is an extremely formative time in a child's life. It is in these years when children make the decision to continue on in their faith or not.  OLG religion teachers are absolutely amazing and the Upper Room provides a venue for our kids to continue their faith discussions out of the classroom. The Upper Room  has enhanced our daughter's lives with an opportunity  to learn new ways to grow in their faith  and make new friends. It is a joyful, faith-filled, loving environment and a blessing to our entire family." -Danette Halloran, mother of OLG middle schoolers
