Happy National Vocation Awareness Week!
November 3-9, 2019
With 70% of the newly ordained saying they first heard the call to the priesthood between birth and 18 years of age, what we do at the parish level to intentionally promote vocations is vitally important to the health of a diocese!

It is not just for increased numbers of seminarians, sisters and brothers that we do this work. Our goal is to help each person ask God regularly, "What is Your will in my life?" If we do this, more souls will end up in heaven!

I love this quote from St. John Neumann:

“Everyone who breathes, high and low, educated and ignorant, young and old, man and woman, has a mission, has a work. We are not sent into this world for nothing; we are not born at random; we are not here, that we may go to bed at night, and get up in the morning, toil for our bread, eat and drink, laugh and joke, sin when we have a mind, and reform when we are tired of sinning, rear a family and die. God sees every one of us; He creates every soul, . . . for a purpose. He needs, He deigns to need, every one of us. He has an end for each of us; we are all equal in His sight, and we are placed in our different ranks and stations, not to get what we can out of them for ourselves, but to labor in them for Him. As Christ has His work, we too have ours; as He rejoiced to do His work, we must rejoice in ours also.” (St. John Neumann, from the sermon: “God’s Will the End of Life”)

I pray that you are taking this week to do something at your parish to bring awareness that everyone has a call to holiness!

New FREE Resource from the
Institute on Religious Life
How many vocations to the priesthood and religious life were prompted simply by someone inviting a young person to give it consideration? God alone knows! Newly ordained say they were asked an average of SIX times before entering seminary. Now you have something to hand to the youth and young adults at your parish when inviting them to consider a call from God!

These handsome rack cards (measuring 4" wide by 9" tall) contain information about how the Institute on Religious Life might help the younger discerner in his or her search.

They can be placed in the racks found in vestibules at local parishes, chapels, and shrines and also easily be distributed at events.

Cards are available FREE of charge!

NB: The photo shows both the front and back images, side by side.
Give Thanks!
This is a perfect time to say thank you to your priest for his YES each and every day. Vocation Ministry now offers these Thank You cards (pictured below) that are blank inside by design. Your message of thanks from your family or ministry will mean so much to him. Give thanks!
Pack of 5 cards and envelopes is $8.
Our New Program Coordinator!
Meet Idette Saenz
Due the generosity of many of you who joined the Liguori Society and donated through the Benefit Dinner, we hired another program coordinator.

She will be the point person for those ministry members in the Eastern Time Zone. She will be reaching out to attendees of workshops in  English and Spanish . This will help Vocation Ministry to assess what is happening at parishes for vocations and how we can best help your ministry till the soil for vocations. So, if you hear from her, let her know how your parish is fostering a culture of vocations! Welcome, Idette!

You can reach her at:
