It is almost time to put away those winter jackets and get out those sundresses, shorts, and sandals. After one of the harshest winters in a while, I am sure I am not the only one who is looking forward to more of this warmer weather.

In this issue you will find information on our newest employees, this year's Bike Walk to Work Week, as well as a farewell to two of our planners.

We hope this is helpful. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact us at srpc@strafford.org.

SRPC Welcomes Colin Lentz

SRPC would like to welcome one of our newest employees, Colin Lentz.

Colin Lentz - Planner

Colin started working as a Planner at SRPC in March 2014. He has assisted on the completion of the DRAFT Strafford Regional Broadband Plan and is currently working on the Infrastructure chapter to the Regional Master Plan. His future projects are to assist with the overall compiling of the different appendices into one comprehensive Regional Master Plan, and help with other projects.

Colin grew up in the Northwest, where it was all too easy to become engrossed in the region's natural spaces and concerned for the preservation of natural resources. After studying the interactions between urban landscapes and natural ecology at Hampshire College in Amherst, MA, he came to UNH and completed a master's program in ecosystem management and public policy. These academic programs combined diverse training, including: traditional ecosystem research, qualitative social science, systems theory, and conflict resolution. Colin is excited to be working at SRPC and putting his training and experience to work on local and regional challenges.

Colin lives in Rochester with his wife Josie - who is a special education teacher at the local William Allen School - and enjoys walking the short mile to the SRPC offices at the Rochester Community Center, where he also trains at the Rochester Recreation Shotokan Karate Club. It didn't take long to become just as engrossed in the natural places of New Hampshire, and in his spare time, Colin enjoys fly fishing, hiking, and camping.
SRPC Welcomes Liz Durfee

SRPC would also like to welcome another one of our newest employees, Liz Durfee.

Liz Durfee-Planner

Liz started working as a Planner at SRPC in March 2014. She is currently working on the Water Infrastructure and Climate Change Appendices to the Regional Master Plan. Her future projects include assisting with the overall compiling of the different appendices into one comprehensive Regional Master Plan.

Liz returned to the New Hampshire Seacoast after finishing a two-year NOAA Coastal Management Fellowship addressing working waterfronts and Great Lakes waterfront land use planning with the Michigan Coastal Zone Management Program and Michigan Sea Grant. Her interests and previous experiences include natural resource management and conservation, education and outreach, and physical design, community redevelopment, and watershed planning. Liz has an M.U.P. /M.S. in Urban and Regional Planning and Natural Resources and Environment from the University of Michigan and B.S. in Environmental Conservation from the University of New Hampshire. Liz enjoys exploring new places and spending time outside and always finds herself in the middle of a number of craft projects.

Gear Up For Bike Walk To Work Week
It is almost time again for Bike Walk to Work Week. Sponsored by Seacoast Area Bicycle Routes, this year's Bike Walk to Work Week takes place from May 12th to the 16th. The purpose of this event is to encourage individuals to bike, walk, share a ride, or take the bus to work during the week to encourage sustainable transportation options.

Want to get your whole company or organization involved? As part of this week long initiative, you can register to compete in the corporate commuter challenge. This allows your workplace to log their efforts during the week. A celebration to announce the winners in this competition will take place from 6-8 pm at the Portsmouth Brewery. Learn more here.

In addition for those riding, walking, or commuting to work on the Friday, May 16th there will be breakfast stations across the region. With food donated from local businesses, commuters can stop and grab some fuel on the way in to work. The locations for these breakfast stations include:

SRPC Wishes Dan Camara and Marc Ambrosi Great Success!

SRPC would like to thank both Daniel Camara and Marc Ambrosi for their time here at Strafford Regional Planning Commission. Daniel Camara, who started as a planner here in 2006, is SRPC's Senior GIS/Transportation Analyst. He will be starting a new job at Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. as a GIS Analyst out of Bedford, NH. Marc Ambrosi, SRPC Transportation Planner, said his farewells in mid April as he got ready to make the long drive out to Colorado.
