ALI hosted its 2019 Public Health Deep Dive, focused on i mproving future health in the broadest sense. The Deep Dive featured a panel discussion, dynamic speakers, and a design workshop.

Steven Koltai (2018) is helping showcase refugee and migrants' skills with the aim of matching them to jobs. Mr. Koltai is senior adviser to Skilllab, one of 20 organizations that will share $25 million in grants from Google.org, credit and consulting from Google Cloud and coaching by Google's AI experts as a grantee of the Google AI Impact Challenge.

Doug Eby (2017) says we are on the verge of the next great scientific revolution. Mr. Eby authored a blog post for Harvard's Petrie-Flom Center detailing "Convergence 2.0," the merging of engineering and biology.

David Steel (2017) is helping develop para-sport as a tool for changing lives and contributing to an inclusive society. Mr. Steel has been appointed to a four-year term on the executive committee of the Agitos Foundation, the development arm of the International Paralympic Committee.  

Hasan Ghias (2016) is warning against the disempowerment and marginalization of Muslims in India. Mr. Ghias authored a recent article calling for resilience and resolve among the Muslim community.

Judy Perry Martinez (2015) urged hundreds of law school graduates to think about their legacy as lawyers and to provide access to justice for all. Ms. Perry Martinez addressed Northeastern University School of Law graduates during their commencement ceremony this month.

Doug Renfield-Miller (2015) has been appointed to the board of the Green Burial Council. Through his work with the council, Mr. Renfield-Miller will seek to inspire and advocate for environmentally sustainable, natural death care through education and certification.

Anne Welsh McNulty (2015) is helping women fight to become leaders. Ms. Welsh McNulty was recently profiled by the Chronicle of Philanthropy for her work to establish the women's leadership institute at Villanova University.

Susan Gianinno (2014) was appointed to the World Economic  Forum's Steering Committee Board for a new WEF System Initiative on Shaping the Future of Education, Gender and Work. Ms. Gianinno also joined the board of Encore.org.

Ann MacDougall (2013) is helping elevate new voices at the intersection between aging, social justice, and intergenerational connection. Last fall, Ms. MacDougall co-created and launched the Encore Public Voices Fellowship - Ray Jetson (2010) was a fellow in the inaugural cohort - and applications are now open for next year's cohort.

ALI Faculty Board Member Bill Alford (HLS) helped celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics. Prof. Alford, chair of the Harvard Law School Project on Disability, moderated a panel with Olympic medalist Michelle Kwan and Special Olympics medalist Melissa Joy Reilly to honor the occasion. 
 
ALI Executive Committee Member Howard Koh (SPH) served as co-chair for the 2019 Public Health Deep Dive. Together with ALI Faculty Chair Meredith Rosenthal, Dr. Koh helped convene faculty from the Chan School, and leaders from around Boston, for the Deep Dive.  

ALI Faculty Chair Meredith Rosenthal (SPH) is taking a closer look at the opioid epidemic. Prof. Rosenthal spoke about the role of pharmaceutical marketing at the "Opioids: Policy to Practice" summit, an event co-sponsored by Harvard and the University of Michigan.
