SPECIAL EVENTS THIS MONTH AT SHELTON HOUSE...
Saturday, June 8 at 10am - Kid's Craft Event

Calling all Dads, Grandpas, and Superheroes alike! On Sat, June 8 at 10 am, The Shelton House will be hosting a Father’s Day Kids Craft Event in the barn. This month’s Kids Craft will be a Superhero Candy bar for dad or grandpa, with a handwritten note on the back. Drop off your children, stroll the Farmer’s Market for an hour, and we’ll handle the rest! This event will include cookies, fruit punch, and other light refreshments. Although all Shelton House Kids Craft Events are free, a $5 donation (or more!)is appreciated to help continue hosting crafting events like these.
CRAFTER SHOWCASE with Artist llene Kay Saturday,June 22 at 10am (during the BRHW!)

This month on June 22 at 10 am, during the Blue Ridge Heritage Weekend, Shelton House is delighted to spotlight Ilene Kay,jeweler, who brings her unique artistry to her craft.
Ilene’s jewelry is created from Argentium Silver, Gold, heat colored Titanium and Copper using traditional fabrication metalsmithing techniques. To a casual observer, Ilene’s work conveys a naturalistic nuance with an Asian infusion to incorporate her love of the natural world. Ilene's inspiration uses the same skills as a child studying the various textures, shapes and colors found in stones, bark, flowers or other natural elements. As an artist, those “treasures” of inspiration are her guidance to bring a childlike awe to each piece. Ilene saws, textures, hammers and forms the metal with hand tools to bring those qualities to life in metal, enamel, Cloisonné and more. The directness of forging metal in this manner makes each piece of jewelry a unique piece of art. The elements are deliberately arranged to appeal to the senses and e motions of the person who will finally wear the jewelry.
A $5 donation for the Shelton House is appreciated. The newly remodeled Shelton House Gift Shop will carry Ilene’s works throughout the season, as well as other featured crafters in this year’s Crafter Showcase.
