ANNOUNCEMENTS
Gardeners needed this Sunday!  Please join our landscape team right after church this Sunday for our final garden clean-up of the year. There's plenty of weeding and pruning to be done in preparation for winter!  Bring your own gloves, hand tools, rakes, etc.  Even one hour will be a big help.  Questions?  Contact Shaun Hardy or Joe Burckle.

Thanksgiving Eve Worship Service - Wednesday, November 21 at 7:30 pm.

Good Shepherd annual Thanksgiving Potluck will be held at 5 pm on Thursday, November 22 in the Parish Hall. Sign up sheet and information is on the table in the Narthex or contact Joe Burckle for more information (301-942-8804  [email protected]).

It's never too late to pledge!   If you would like to financially support Good Shepherd in its mission and ministries, please prayerfully consider making a pledge for 2019.  Pledge cards can be found on the desk in the Narthex and may be placed in the offering plate or in the lockbox on the Narthex desk.

Saint Luke Food Pantry 45 Middle Eastern families thank you for your generous contributions to the special Thanksgiving baskets.  These families were brought to this country through the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service under contract from the State Department.  At least one member of each family assisted the United States in the country of origin in a way that would endanger the individual and their entire family if they stayed. The need to address food insecurity in our local community continues.  We are blessed to be able to support the commitment of Saint Luke Food Pantry each week by bringing in "regular" staples for their volunteers to pass on to those in need who are referred to them by local social service agencies.  Let's focus on items that supply nutrition, protein, and carbohydrates as the colder weather is upon us.  Remember that the combination of rice and beans can make a complete protein along with meat and fish.  A more complete list of suggested staples is by the cabinet in the back of church.

Annual November Collection for Shepherd's Table
You might have noticed that it has gotten colder outside.  While we work and pray for a community where no one spends days and even nights on the street, we also we also join with the powerful commitment of Shepherd's Table to the needs of those who are homeless since 1983.  In November, we focus on a collection of the following items:  NEW thermal gloves, socks, and long underwear; winter scarves and hats (store bought or made by hand); and large plain backpacks in which clients can safeguard their possessions.  Please place your items of warmth in the designated bin at the back of church between now and November 25.  Debbie Beebe, our new coordinator with Shepherd's Table, will then transport our gifts to Shepherd's Table in Silver Spring.  Thank you.
