Announcement from Paula Wright, RMHCNE
Board President

It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that the Board of Directors announces Michael Fantom’s departure as Chief Executive Officer of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England (RMHC New England) on August 21, 2020. Michael played a critical role in the development, growth and success of the organization, and while we will miss him, his bright personality and his inspiring leadership, we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

For over 15 years, Michael’s leadership brought significant organizational growth—first as Executive Director of the Ronald McDonald House of Providence (RMH Providence) and then as CEO of RMHC New England in March 2019. Michael has been a wonderful asset to our organization.

During his tenure, RMH Providence expanded 3 times concluding in 2016—a $5 million expansion increasing the number of families served nightly from 18 to 28. In the past two years, Michael’s guidance brought significant growth once again as he led the successful merger of RMH Providence and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern New England.

In his own words, “After 15 active years in the RMHC family I have made the decision to take a step back from my position as the CEO of RMHC New England. Against a pandemic backdrop and recent family health challenges I have decided spend some much needed time with my family before moving on to pursue other professional opportunities.” Michael expressed “I am thankful for the opportunity to lead during a period of immense organizational growth and evolution, and am certain that RMHC New England is positioned to continue growing the mission of family support throughout the tri-city area of Worcester:Boston:Providence while maintaining a position of non-profit excellence for years to come.”

Thanks to Michael’s leadership, RMHC New England is very well positioned to continue to grow and provide critical care to all families seeking pediatric medical treatment in Rhode Island and the Greater Boston area.

2020 has certainly brought challenges to us all. RMHC New England is no exception. Your support through the trials of Covid-19 and beyond is so appreciated. Your belief in our mission has carried us through these trying times and will ensure our continued success in days to come. Thanks to your caring and generosity, we will continue to provide services to hundreds of families with critically ill children.

Please know in the midst of great change, our staff, volunteers and board are dedicated to the families who call RMH “home”. We are working with an RMHC Global consultant through the transition and are confident our organization will continue to grow as we start the search for our new CEO.

If you have any questions about the transition or the organization, do not hesitate to reach out to Nicole Anderson, Chief Advancement Officer at nanderson@rmhcne.org.

Sincerely,

Paula Wright
