Adult Forum Advent: The Names of Jesus
There will be no adult formation meetings 11/18 and 11/25.
We will focus on the names of Jesus quoted in the ancient (and interminable) hymn, O Come, O Come, Emmanuel. We will have books available if you’d like one (O Wisdom, from Forward Movement, $7), but you don’t need one to share in the conversations! Canon Linda, Deacon Ken, and plain Terri will lead discussions, and we all hope you’ll join us,
beginning December 2
at 9:15 am in Cummins Hall. Take a look at the hymn when you’re in church! We’ll have coffee and goodies from the skills and generosity of the 8 o’clockers, for which we are grateful.

Meet the Artist
Mark your calendar -
Saturday December 1st at 4:00 pm
– for a meet-the-artist-reception here at St. Francis Church. Carol Hansen, the artist whose paintings are on display in the narthex, will be our special guest. Carol, who teaches art at Oregon City High School, will be with us to discuss the development of her career in painting and in art education. She will be happy to answer questions about painting techniques.
Carol grew up in Wisconsin and studied art and design at the University of Wisconsin Stout. She also completed a Masters in Art Education. She and her husband Paul moved to Oregon where they raised their two daughters. Carol is passionate about art and loves to share her enthusiasm with eager students. She works in her studio and when weather permits she is in the field creating impressions of the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Her pieces represent a range of subjects from colorful still life paintings to land and seascape creations.
Wine and finger foods will be served at the reception.

On Epiphany Sunday, January 6,
St Francis celebrates the arrival of the Magi to the Christ Child. We honor this day, in our own time, by our gifts of clothing, diapers, and baby hats to the babies of Salud Medical Center in Woodburn. As you shop for gifts for loved ones , please think of the little ones of these families.
Thanks!!!

Prayer attributed to St. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.
