Clover Caring Cards
Each year, as a service to our community, we collect gift cards to support those in need within our community.  I am proud to say that last year our community donated and were recipients of close to $1,000 in gift cards to support families in our building! This is a great service project that teaches generosity for our families and provide an immediate need for families during the holiday season.  Gift Card ideas include restaurants, gasoline, grocery, or clothing. (Target, Walmart, Speedway, Cub Foods, etc). Hopefully, by providing some assistance to families for the basic essentials, families can prioritize and have extra during the holiday season.

We will be collecting gift card from today through Dec. 7.  Gift Cards will be distributed between Dec.10-21. Gift cards in increments of $10 or $20 are preferred.  Please label with monetary amount to assist with distribution.

Families needing assistance are asked to contact Mrs. Oldenkamp, School Counselor at 556.6912 or [email protected].

Thank you in advance for your support of our families!
Clover Gratitudes
We are so fortunate to have such an outstanding staff here at Clover Ridge. So for the month of November, the PTO would like to sponsor Clover Gratitudes.  Parents, students, and staff can submit Clover Gratitudes for staff members on the attached form.  The Clover Gratitudes will be collected in the office and each one gratitude will be selected and read aloud during announcements.  It will be wonderful to hear all the great ways that our staff at Clover Ridge enriches the lives of others every day.  As a bonus, the winning staff member will receive a prize!  Please take the time to write out Clover Gratitudes for teachers and staff and submit them to the school office! You can email Melody at [email protected] or Karen at [email protected]
OR you can click here for Clover Gratitudes

IT'S HOE DOWN TIME!
HOWDY Y'ALL!
First and Second graders have been working on square dancing the past couple of weeks in PE and are ready to show off their dances at our annual Hoe Down this Friday,November 16th!  We are inviting parents (and grandparents, uncles, aunts, neighbors, etc.) to come and watch if possible.  Students have been asked to dress in Western attire and start looking in their closet for an outfit.  Please do not go out and buy an outfit.  For boys, Jeans and a t-shirt or plaid shirt are just fine.  For the girls, a dress, skirt, overalls, jeans, etc.  Students are encouraged to wear a cowboy/cowgirl hat or a bandana if they have one. Our Hoe Down will be taking place on Friday, November 16th. Frist Grade will be from 12:50-1:15 and Second grade will be from 1:55-2:20.  Please note if you feel you need to take your child home after the Hoe Down, you will need to sign them out at the office.  YEE HAW!

If you have any questions, please contact Wendy Ryun at [email protected] or 952-556-6989.

Trimester Reporting
November 20th marks the end of trimester 1 for all elementary learners. All elementary school subjects are considered full-year courses , and our instruction and grading practices for these courses reflect this shift. Learning progress from trimester 1, trimester 2, and trimester 3 is  collected and combined to create a cumulative grade at the end of the school year. A final cumulative grade will be posted to the report card at the end of the school year.

Learning progress is updated throughout the course of the year, however the end of the trimester is a good time to make sure you check-in on your child's progress.  You will be able to find information about where your child is at anytime in Empower and/or Parent Portal. Please click on the links below to view instructions on how to access Empower and/or Parent Portal, as well as information on how to check on your child's progress.  As always, you can contact your child's teacher for additional information on learning progress. If you are unable to login please contact the Digital Learning Coach in your building.

Pajama Day
One of the missions of Clover Ridge Student Council is to promote school spirit. The students voted on Pajama / Comfy Day on November 20. We encourage all to share their spirit but still respect the learning environment of others and ensure all spirit is school appropriate. Let's celebrate how great Clover Ridge Elementary is.

Family Day at NAGC
The National Association for Gifted Children is holding their annual convention in Minneapolis this year! Many administrators and teachers from ECCS will be attending this convention to learn more and gain insight into meeting the needs of our high ability learners. This event is also open to parents who want to learn more about the specific needs of gifted children. On Saturday there is a Family Day for parents and students. For more information, check out this website. Family Day at NAGC18!
Join us for a full day of family learning.

When: Saturday, November 17, 2018 during the
National Association for Gifted Children's 65th Annual Convention
Who:  Families -- Parents, grandparents, and their children
Where: Minneapolis Convention Center, 1301 Second Ave S.
Cost:  $50 per family unit (does not include lunch)

Children's activities geared for elementary and middle school aged children will be held in classrooms in the NAGC18 Exhibit Hall. Children can join parents at sessions by nationally known speakers on parenting gifted children. Or, take advantage of any of the 150 other NAGC18 Saturday sessions. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Winter Weather
We prefer outside recess to indoor recess because of the importance of daily exposure to fresh air, sunshine and physical activity. We will take students out if there is a light sprinkle of rain, if it is snowing and if the play surface has not been impacted by the weather.  It is important that students dress daily for the weather. In winter we only stay in for recess if the wind chill is -10 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. We follow the same guidelines as the other elementary schools in our district. Please send your students prepared to be outside.  If you are in need of Winter Gear, please contact Mrs. Oldenkamp or Nurse Sarah for donated items.
